About Eyebot

Eyebot is an outcome-focused technology company on a mission to make vision care accessible to everyone, equally. Headquartered in Boston's North End and Charlestown neighborhoods and backed by top investors and the National Science Foundation, our vision test kiosk is reshaping how vision care is delivered.

If you are passionate about solving big problems and building the future of vision care, we would love to hear from you.

About the Role

The Sales Director, Independent Optical is a senior individual contributor and a true hunter, responsible for bringing Eyebot to independent optical practices and shops across the United States. This is a high-velocity new business role for someone who thrives on prospecting, opening doors, and closing deals with independent optometrists, opticians, and small to midsize optical retailers.

You will build Eyebot's presence in the independent channel from the ground up, owning the full cycle from lead generation through signed agreement and successful kiosk go-live. This is a builder's seat: you will define what selling into the independent market looks like for Eyebot, and you will carry a number while you do it.

What You'll Do:

You will own new business development across the independent optical channel nationwide. You will self-source and build pipeline, run the full sales cycle from first outreach through close, and guide new customers through onboarding and go-live in partnership with our internal teams.

Specifically, you will:

  • Prospect, qualify, and close independent optical practices, opticians, and small optical retail groups across the US

  • Build and manage a robust pipeline, consistently hitting and exceeding new-logo targets

  • Run the full sales motion: outreach, discovery, product demo, pricing, negotiation, and close

  • Partner with internal teams to ensure a smooth install and go-live for every new customer

  • Represent Eyebot at trade shows and industry events to build relationships and generate demand

  • Bring field intelligence back into the organization to shape product, pricing, and commercial strategy

What We're Looking For:

Required Qualifications

  • 7+ years of B2B sales experience, with a strong, demonstrable record in new business development (hunting), not just account management

  • Optical industry experience is required. You understand how independent optical practices and small retailers operate, what they care about, and how they buy

  • Proven track record of self-sourcing pipeline and closing net-new accounts against a quota

  • Comfort owning the entire sales cycle, from cold outreach all the way through close

  • Strong negotiation, presentation, and relationship-building skills

  • Willingness to travel as needed across the US

This role has a leadership trajectory: as Eyebot scales the independent channel, you will have the opportunity to grow into building and leading a team of sales reps

Preferred Qualifications

  • Existing relationships and a network within the independent optical community

  • Experience selling into optometry, optical retail, or eyecare practices specifically

  • Experience at or alongside an early-stage or high-growth technology company

  • Familiarity with kiosks, IoT, or embedded hardware systems

  • Experience in regulated, clinical, or health and wellness environments

Who You Are:

  • You are a hunter at heart. You are energized by the chase, you love opening doors, and a full pipeline is its own reward. You don't wait for leads to come to you.

  • You know optical. You speak the language of the independent practice, you understand their economics and their patients, and you can earn credibility with an owner-operator in the first conversation.

  • You operate like a founder. You are self-directed, resourceful, and comfortable building process where none exists.

  • You build trust quickly. You connect with owners and operators as peers, understand their priorities, and position Eyebot in terms that resonate with how they run their business.

  • You are energized by meaningful work. The idea of building a product that genuinely changes how people access healthcare keeps you motivated when things get hard.

Location

This role is fully remote and can be performed from anywhere in the US, with travel as needed to customers, trade shows, and industry events.

What We Offer:

  • Compensation: Base salary of $140,000-160,000 plus uncapped commission, commensurate with experience

  • Meaningful equity - you're building this with us and should share in what we create

  • Flexible work schedule with unlimited PTO - we care about the work you do, not the hours you log

  • Health, dental, and vision insurance

  • Employer-sponsored 401(k)

  • Commuter support and wellness benefits - including tools like Calm and Cariloop to help you perform at your best

  • A culture where all ideas are welcome, no matter how out there — that's how Eyebot started, and it's how we keep moving forward

  • Collaborative offices in Boston's Charlestown neighborhood, with regular team lunches

  • The opportunity to build products that improve lives and reshape how vision care is delivered.

Apply — Even If You're Not Sure

We know that job descriptions can feel like long checklists, and that talented people sometimes talk themselves out of applying. If you're excited about this role and the mission but don't meet every single requirement, we still want to hear from you. Eyebot is committed to building a diverse and inclusive team, and we welcome applicants of all backgrounds, identities, and experiences.
