Oversee the profitability and production of SECURA’s products within a designated geographic area or territory. The role includes effectively promoting SECURA’s products, programs, and services to ensure agents have a superior understanding of SECURA compared to other carriers. Additionally, stay informed about current market conditions and assess the competitiveness of other carriers and agencies operating in the same area. The ideal candidate would be located near Springfield, Champaign, or Bloomington, Illinois.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ability to market and front-line underwrite insurance products to independent agents
- Owns relationships with select individual agencies, aggregators, small business units, and geographically remote agency partners
- Manage growth and loss ratio on a continuous basis
- Develop, manage, and segment agency plant
- Assist in training agents in products, rating/and or technology platforms, and procedures to achieve corporate strategies
- Lead/facilitate territory agency reviews on an annual basis
- Partner with both internal and external partners: Agencies, Underwriting, Claims, and Risk Management to identify and maintain profitable business
- Increase submissions and improve hit ratios
- Analyze, develop, and implement strategies for expansion of products and agencies to support corporate strategies
- Identify training needs within the agencies and assist/coordinate with training department
- Be proficient in SECURA’s four business units (CL/SL/FL/AG of business we insure as a company)
- Be able to lead, organize and carry out virtual meetings often with our agency partners and internal departments. Proficient use of Zoom or Microsoft TEAMS
- Sales Manager will have two office days a week. One of these will be for planning, organizing and follow-ups. The other will be a digital day to engage our agency force
- Have the ability to build strong relationships
- Consistently going above and beyond to ensure ease for our agents to do business with us as efficiently as possible
- Serve as Resource Manager for our currently contracted agencies
- Demonstrate an exceptional effort to active listening
- Coordinate travel with members of various Underwriting units
- Creatively connect with our agencies through digital media
- Actively recruit new agencies
- Be active with various trade organizations. PIA, IIA, 1752, etc
- Facilitate book rolls, data-mines and identify opportunities within an agency’s current book.
- Act as key resource to SECURA for territory developments, competitor analysis, and economic development in the territory
- Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
ESSENTIAL:
- Five plus years’ property and casualty insurance experience
- Comprehensive knowledge of the marketplace
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Superior problem-solving skills
- Results oriented personality
PREFERRED:
- Bachelor’s degree in business or equivalent work experience
- Commercial Underwriting experience/ Claims experience (Field)
- CPCU, CIC, or ARM designation(s)
- Two plus years’ successful agency/company marketing or sales experience
- Strong background in Commercial, Agribusiness and Specialty
- Working knowledge of Agency Automation
- Outstanding listening skills
REQUIRED:
- Ability to obtain and maintain a valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record consistent with the terms in SECURA's Fleet Vehicle Manual
- Travel with overnight stays

Compensation Range: The anticipated annual base salary for this role is between $91,400 and $137,100. Final compensation will be determined based on a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, skills, education, and overall qualifications, as well as the scope and location of the role. We welcome applicants whose compensation expectations fall outside of this range, as all candidates will be considered based on their individual qualifications. Additionally, candidates may be considered for other roles within the organization that align with their experience and career goals.
