Primary Purpose:

The primary role of the S&OE Manager is to refine a short-term demand plan as specified in the S&OE time horizon - based on the medium-term demand plan. This position is a key driver in creating and managing the true customer demand signal to manage trade-offs at short-term between demand and supply. It is critical in the S&OE process as demand control is leveraged to balance any short-term supply and demand and resolve any issues that may arise. The demand controller is tasked with using data to break down the monthly demand plan (developed by the demand planners with sales) into weekly plans for supply planning. 

Responsibilities:

  • Accountable for creating, running, and reporting short-term demand plans.
  • Breakdown a demand forecast by SKU by week for the future 13 weeks to track and monitor deviations to this forecast.  
  • Investigate the demand forecast deviations and escalate them by supporting this with data driven assumptions to guide decision making.
  • Working with the sales operations to gather latest market intelligence on specific customer-level demand events. 
  • Aligning with customer service to detect any expected customer order trend in the short term. 
  • Facilitating decision making when demand materializes differently than planned.
  • Collaborate with sales, customer service and project management to evaluate the latest demand trends. 
  • Support the demand planners to develop, monitor and communicate reports on changes and forecast accuracy on S&OE time horizon to business unit and supply chain organizations, while driving continuous improvement.
  • Create measures to identify short-term abnormal demand orders and report them as a percentage of all orders that came in as planned.
  • Use and maintain Atlas demand-planning system to create the best short term demand plan using established processes.

 

Qualifications

Education, Qualities and Skills Required:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in business, Supply Chain Management, Operations, Statistics, or a related field is required. Advanced degrees or relevant certifications such as APICS CPIM or CSCP are highly preferred.
  • Minimum of 7 years’ experience in demand planning with at least 1-2 years of S&OP and S&OE
  • Analytical Skills: Strong quantitative and analytical abilities to interpret demand forecasts, monitor deviations, and support data-driven decision making.
  • Technical Proficiency: Experience with demand planning systems, such as Atlas, and advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other data analysis tools.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to collaborate effectively with sales, customer service, and project management teams.
  • Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and attention to detail when tracking, monitoring, and reporting on demand trends and forecast changes.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to investigate forecast deviations, identify root causes, and recommend actionable solutions.
  • Collaboration: Proven ability to work cross-functionally and build relationships with various business units and supply chain organizations.
  • Adaptability: Comfortable working in a dynamic environment and able to facilitate decision making when demand materializes differently than planned.
  • Continuous Improvement: Commitment to driving process improvements and enhancing forecast accuracy.

Supervisory Responsibility:

No direct supervision required.

Work Environment:

Typical office working environment which includes a workstation equipped with a computer and other office supplies necessary for daily tasks.  Typically climate-controlled to provide a comfortable working temperature year-round.  Lighting is usually a mix of natural and artificial sources to ensure sufficient illumination.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time salaried position, and hours of work and days are Monday through Friday. Expectations of 45 hours per week, to be worked during normal business hours.

The physical requirements for an office environment typically include:
1. Sitting: Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk or workstation.
2. Typing: Frequent use of hands to type on a keyboard and operate a computer mouse.
3. Visual Requirements: Extended periods of viewing a computer screen and reading printed or digital documents.
4. Mobility: Occasional walking or standing, including moving between different areas of the office.
5. Manual Dexterity: The ability to handle office equipment, such as phones, printers, and copiers, and to file documents.
6. Communication: Clear verbal and written communication skills for interacting with colleagues, clients, and vendors.
7. Lifting: Occasionally lifting and carrying light objects, typically up to 20 pounds, such as files, documents, or office supplies.
8. Reaching and Bending: Reaching above shoulder height and bending to access files and office supplies.
9. Hearing: Adequate hearing ability to participate in meetings and teleconferences.

Compensation and Benefits:

The budgeted salary range for this position is $105,000-$125,000, with a 12.5% annual bonus potential.

Salary range is based on consideration of required qualifications, experience, education, skill, training, certifications or seniority, etc.  Schuman Cheese reserves the right to offer the selected candidate or applicant an hourly rate or salary at an appropriate level to be set and determined by Schuman Cheese that is commensurate with the applicant’s qualifications, experience, education, skill, training, certifications or seniority.
