Project Manager / Executive Assistant

What does Packback do?

Packback exists to awaken and fuel the fearless, relentless curiosity in every student.

We are a social learning platform powered by a proprietary A.I. that college professors use to help their students fall in love with the subject matter, drive personalized learning, and most importantly, quantify and improve critical thinking skills. We are changing education from the ground up and have impacted over a quarter million students across the US using Packback as part of their coursework to grow their curiosity.

How will you add value to the team?

We are hiring an Executive Assistant / Project Manager to support our cofounder and COO Kasey Gandham in building a new vertical of the company with our expansion into working with online institutions, community colleges, and state governments.  You will be part of building the foundation of a key new growth initiative for the company and will play a direct role in what we believe is the future of education.

The candidate we are looking for is an extraordinarily organized person with incredible communication skills, attention to detail, and a drive to create. This individual will be an integral part of the Packback team, acting as an extension of our COO.

As an Executive Assistant, you will be mission control for the COO. Not only will you have the critical responsibility of ensuring our COO is as efficient and effective as possible, but you will also analyze sales pipeline reports, identifying risks to our current deals and driving the COO's actions. We expect this role will entail an average of 50 hours of work per week, with some weeks at 45 and some at 55.

Typical responsibilities include:

Project Management

  • Draft and manage correspondence and communications on behalf of the COO as appropriate
  • Follow up on open issues on behalf of the COO with Professors, IT teams, and Legal teams at Universities
  • Regular reviews of sales pipeline reports to identify risk and drive the COO’s action items
  • Constructing creative follow-ups to unresponsive customer stakeholders
  • Organizing and updating our Customer Relationship Management system, Salesforce

Administrative Duties

  • Manage the COO’s calendar and time, run daily errands
  • Take notes during meetings and follow up on action items on behalf of the COO
  • Supporting the COO in event planning of community events we frequently organize

What you won’t do:

  • Feel like a number - we empower each other and celebrate the small and the big wins, every day
  • Get bored - we thrive off of curiosity and have fun while we do it

What you bring to the table:

  • 2+ years of prior experience either as an assistant to an executive, or in project management
  • Strong capability of quickly building relationships. You are directly supporting the COO in closing major sales and will interact with various University stakeholders.
  • Comfortable with direct, frequent feedback with a strong desire to grow.  Our COO has a reputation of pushing people to be their best, and expects you to push him as well.
  • Comfortable holding our COO accountable and directing actions - this role requires you to drive the COO’s actions on a weekly basis.
  • Strong written and verbal communication
  • Values fit - the individual must be aligned with all of our company values

Our commitment to diversity:

Working in the Education Technology space, Packback believes it is an ethical necessity for us to work to build a diverse and inclusive team, to help us better consider the needs of our diverse audience of students with a wide range of educational backgrounds and educational needs.

We are an equal opportunity employer and value diversity in our company. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, or disability status.

Compensation: $40,000 to $55,000 depending on experience.
