This role requires excellence in the fundamentals of the Sports Nutrition markets including strategy, channel dynamics, customer service, logistics & sales team management. National Sales Manager, Sports Nutrition is responsible for driving strategy to grow our Sports Specialty, Wellness and Fitness channels. The ideal candidate for the role has strong experience, is a self-starter, a strong collaborator, has great organization and communication skills, strong leadership skills and is hungry to build on our brand’s momentum.

General Functions + Responsibilities:

Sales Leadership and Execution

  • Lead sales team in execution of strategy, KPI and goal setting
  • Provide direction, development and motivation to the team to maximize business opportunities and objectives
  • Expand the business through strategic promotion and programs that stand out in the industry
  • Lead sales team in best practices for enterprise, franchise and independent account acquisition and retention
  • Develop and coach best practices for key account meetings
  • Ensure the team’s execution of new product launches and promotions
  • Build strategic broker network within Sports Specialty to maximize penetration
  • Leverage insights from Category Insights team to bring relevant and timely data to leadership team, sales team and customers to drive growth
  • Cultivate great relationships throughout the industry
  • Tone Setting: Embody the RXBAR culture, sales team values and reinforce the “RXBAR Sales Call”

Planning and Strategy

  • Develop and execute overall strategic sales plan with cross-functional leadership team for the Sports Nutrition channels
  • Work with RXBAR’s Sales Analytics and Sales Planning teams to understand and manage:
    • Customer base
    • Pricing/Promotion
    • Acquisition
    • Retention
  • Maintain a deep understanding of the channels and major players. Talk to other brands and buyers, read articles related to the strategy and trends.
  • Proactively communicate with Sales Planning team to stay ahead of programs that create executional challenges
  • Anticipate retailer response to changes in RXBAR pricing and distribution
  • Identify and acquire resources and processes necessary for execution of the sales strategy and team development
  • Understand the competitive dynamics in the channels. Where can we learn from leaders and what opportunity exists to take more share?

Cross Functional

  • Leverage Category Insights, Supply Chain & Sales Support Team to forecast as accurately as possible
  • Leverage insights from Category Insights & Sales Planning to elevate RXBAR’s sales strategy
  • Collaborate with Sales Support, Marketing & Category Insights team to identify trends and opportunities for brand development
  • Communicate with Category Insights team about important, needle moving programs so they can provide post event analysis
  • Provide thoughtful insight on the impact of RXBAR pricing across channels and the potential impact of pricing decisions
  • Work with cross-functional counterparts to build an annual sales plan and review weekly updates and progress with Manager
  • Maintain excellent customer and RXBAR employee interdepartmental relationships

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field required
  • Deep understanding of Sports Nutrition business
  • 5+ years’ experience in CPG sales
  • Sales rep. & broker management experience
  • Proven and successful sales management track record
  • Salesforce experience preferred
  • Leadership skills and competencies for advancement within the company
  • Established relationships within sports nutrition channels
  • Experience in sales and expense budgeting and management to budget
  • Excellent communication skills with external customers, peers, supervisors, and internal supporting departments
  • Ability to travel for trade shows, sales calls, and meetings - approximately 40% of time
  • Proven integrity in life/employment and honesty in dealings with others
  • Experience and proficiency with Microsoft Office programs
  • Occasional and event related weekend work is required
