Purpose of the RoleAs the Salesforce Marketing Cloud Specialist, you’ll join our Product & Technology team to support our email and SMS strategy, with a particular focus on Marketing and Fundraising needs. You will be the product administrator and technical lead for configuring and implementing Salesforce Marketing Cloud features to accomplish the marketing goals and strategy set by the Obama Foundation marketing/communications teams.
As the Salesforce Marketing Cloud Specialist, you'll report directly to the Lead Product Manager.

Core Job Responsibilities
  • Serve as the Foundation’s subject matter expert on the Salesforce Marketing Cloud (SFMC) platform to serve a number of internal stakeholders and departments, including Fundraising, Marketing, Communications, Public Engagement, and Programs.

  • Build journeys and automations in Salesforce Marketing Cloud to engage and inform our audiences, and move them strategically to targeted actions through our funnels.

  • Analyze data in SFMC to ensure we are sending personalized and engaging content to the appropriate audiences, make recommendations, and develop new logic-based journeys.

  • Collaborate with Marketing to develop and implement strategic and flexible audience segmentation

    • Collaborate with Salesforce Administration to build data architecture and third party appends (including demographic and psychographic information) to support segmentation strategy

    • Collaborate cross-departmentally to develop both standard and customized suppressions

    • Make informed recommendations for audience retention and engagement through responsive communications and user preferences

    • Ensure consistency of user experience across all stages of digital journey

  • Monitor and improve the efficacy of email campaigns

    • Monitor deliverability and domain health

    • Collaborate with UX designers to monitor and improve design fidelity across devices and email clients 

    • Track and recommend technical advancements to improve campaign performance 

  • Develop and execute a regular email and SMS reporting program to inform strategy, align stakeholders, prioritize testing, and implement learnings 

  • Ensure segment health and hygiene by developing re-engagement campaigns, culling records, and ensuring proper integration with the Salesforce CRM.

    • Proactively consider and recommend channels for audience acquisition, prioritizing data integrations with highest growth potential 

  • Execute, report on, and brainstorm ideas for A/B and multivariate testing.

  • Collaborate with teams across the Foundation who communicate with their constituencies over email, as well as teams responsible for other digital audience touchpoints (advertising, communications, website, etc).

Key Deliverables / Outcomes
  • Offer recommendations for how to streamline and improve our mass email marketing processes in Salesforce Marketing Cloud.

  • Bring more automation and logic-based content journeys into our mass email marketing program.

  • Collaborate with marketing teams to develop an email production calendar, KPIs, and reporting schedule to align marketing operations with overall marketing and business objectives and create a positive experience for the subscriber.

  • Support marketing in developing KPIs and a reporting schedule.

  • Improve segment hygiene and integration of SFMC subscriber records with CRM.

  • Create a QA checklist for steps to take before an email send goes out.

  • Support in the creation and roll-out of early SMS strategy. 

Required Qualifications
  • Extensive knowledge of and experience in Salesforce, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, SQL, HTML, and CSS required

  • Salesforce Marketing Cloud Administrator certification preferred

  • Experience utilizing AMPscript to create dynamic, personalized experiences for audiences

  • Proven experience building and managing email campaigns, journeys, data extensions,  automations, and reports in SFMC

  • Proficiency in HTML and CSS 

  • Collaborative team player able to work effectively in cross-functional teams

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills 

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills 

The salary range for this role is between $90,915 and $113,620.

This is a remote role based in Chicago.
