T-Rex Solutions is seeking a highly capable Senior Product Owner – AI Automation & Atlassian Transformation, to be responsible for driving product strategy, operational transformation, AI-enabled automation, and platform modernization across SDLCNext, an enterprise Atlassian platform supporting SDLC and ITSM operations throughout the DHMS portfolio. This role combines strong product ownership, Jira/Atlassian platform leadership, and advanced AI/automation expertise. The individual will own backlog prioritization, delivery execution, platform governance, and operational transformation initiatives while aggressively reducing manual effort through workflow automation, AI-enabled tooling, and scalable operational redesign.

Operating in alignment with the Government Product Manager, this role is accountable for evolving SDLCNext into a scalable, automation-first enterprise platform that improves operational efficiency, accelerates delivery, enhances reporting and data quality, and modernizes how Process & Tools operations are executed across DHMS. The ideal candidate is not simply a Jira administrator or traditional Product Owner. This role is intended for candidates who have successfully led operational transformation efforts through automation, workflow redesign, Jira optimization, and practical AI implementation. The strongest candidates will demonstrate the ability to identify inefficient operational processes and redesign them into scalable, automation-driven workflows leveraging Jira automation, integrations, AI tooling, and enterprise operational best practices.

Strong preference will be given to candidates with demonstrated experience applying Generative AI, workflow automation, and operational process transformation within enterprise Jira, ITSM, SDLC, or large-scale platform environments.

Responsibilities:

- Product Ownership & Delivery Execution

  • Lead execution of SDLCNext delivery, translating stakeholder needs into prioritized backlog, user stories, enhancement initiatives, and release-ready capabilities
  • Own backlog prioritization, sprint planning, roadmap execution, and Agile delivery activities across sustainment and enhancement efforts
  • Balance operational ITSM support with delivery of platform enhancements, automation initiatives, and modernization efforts
  • Identify and mitigate delivery, operational, platform, and stakeholder risks impacting execution

- AI, Automation & Operational Transformation

  • Lead AI-enabled automation and operational transformation initiatives across SDLCNext and supporting Process & Tools operations
  • Identify manual operational processes and redesign them into scalable, automation-first workflows
  • Implement automation capabilities across Jira, JSM, Confluence, integrations, and related enterprise tooling
  • Leverage Generative AI and workflow automation solutions to improve operational efficiency, ticket routing, reporting quality, workflow consistency, and delivery execution
  • Drive reduction of manual effort across ITSM and SDLC operations through automation and intelligent workflow design
  • Continuously identify opportunities to improve scalability, operational efficiency, and end-user experience through AI and automation

- Atlassian Platform Leadership

  • Oversee Jira, JSM, and Confluence governance, configuration, optimization, and operational scalability
  • Design and optimize workflows, automation rules, dashboards, data structures, JQL queries, and enterprise configurations
  • Drive enterprise adoption of Jira automation capabilities, integrations, and scalable workflow standards
  • Support Atlassian Cloud migration and long-term platform modernization initiatives

- ITSM Operations & Platform Sustainment

  • Oversee ITSM operations including incidents, service requests, change activities, requirements workflows, and sustainment support
  • Ensure SLA adherence, operational responsiveness, ticket throughput, and platform stability
  • Improve operational maturity and consistency through automation, governance, and workflow optimization

- Metrics, Governance & Stakeholder Management

  • Track and report on platform performance, operational metrics, automation effectiveness, SLA adherence, and backlog health
  • Use operational data and platform metrics to drive prioritization and continuous improvement
  • Serve as primary advisor to Government Product Manager and stakeholders regarding platform operations, delivery priorities, and transformation initiatives
  • Lead and direct personnel supporting ITSM operations, sustainment, and platform enhancement efforts

Requirements:

  • Product Ownership & Delivery
    • 5+ years of experience in Product Ownership, Product Management, Platform Delivery, ITSM Operations, or Enterprise Platform Leadership roles
    •  Demonstrated ownership of backlog prioritization, delivery execution, operational support, and platform enhancement initiatives
    • Proven ability to manage competing priorities and make tradeoff decisions in complex stakeholder environments
  • AI & Automation Expertise (HIGH PRIORITY)
    • Demonstrated hands-on experience implementing AI-enabled workflow improvements, operational automation, or Generative AI solutions within enterprise environments
    • Proven experience designing and implementing Jira automation solutions, workflow automation, integrations, or process transformation initiatives
    • Strong experience reducing manual operational effort through scalable automation and intelligent workflow redesign
    • Experience leveraging Generative AI or AI-enabled tooling to improve workflow efficiency, reporting, operational decision-making, or platform operations
    • Strong automation-first mindset with ability to identify inefficiencies and redesign operational workflows for scalability
  • Atlassian & ITSM Platform Expertise
    • Deep hands-on expertise with Jira, JSM, and Confluence including workflows, automation rules, dashboards, data models, JQL, permissions, and enterprise configuration
    • Strong understanding of ITSM processes including incident, service request, change management, and operational support workflows
    • Experience supporting enterprise-scale Atlassian environments in complex operational settings
  • Leadership & Stakeholder Management
    • Demonstrated experience managing teams in operational or delivery environments
    • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills across technical and non-technical audiences
    • Experience using operational metrics and platform performance data to drive decisions and improvements
  • U.S. Citizenship with ability to obtain/maintain CAC

Desired Skills:

  • Prior experience with DHMS, DHA, or similar federal programs is preferred but not required
  • Experience with Atlassian Cloud migration efforts
  •  Atlassian, Agile, Product Ownership, or ITSM certifications
