Senior Back-End Software Engineer (Remote)

AbZorba Games, part of Greentube and NOVOMATIC Interactive, is a world leading games studio that creates superb, high-quality social casino games. We are in the process of enhancing and scaling our mobile casino application 'Diamond Cash Slots", and are currently seeking a Senior Back-End Software Engineer to join our development team.

As a Senior Back-End Engineer, you will be the mastermind behind the heart of our slot games and meta layer – the server-side logic that drives the player experience. You will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining the robust and scalable back-end systems that power our portfolio of slot titles. This includes everything from the core game mechanics and the features implementation to ensuring the integrity and performance of our game servers. You will work in a collaborative environment with game designers, front-end developers and product stakeholders to bring new and exciting slot games and features to life.

This position requires an enthusiastic, team-oriented individual with a good understanding of Game Dynamics.

Disclaimer: This position is fully remote; however, it will require periodic travel to our office in Athens, Greece, every few months for team meetings and workshops. As such, preference will be given to candidates residing in Greece.

• Design, implement, and maintain server-side game logic and features.
• Collaborate closely with game designers to translate game concepts and mathematical models into flawless technical execution.
• Develop and optimize the game server architecture for high performance, scalability, and reliability.
• Deep understanding of the company applications and IT infrastructure
• Building and maintaining cloud platforms and deployment pipelines to dev/staging/production environments
• Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code
• Integrate with various third-party services and APIs
• Participate in the investigation process in case of any issues/incidents
• Ensure the security and integrity of the game environment and player data
• Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends to continuously improve our back-end systems

• 5+ years of professional experience in back-end development with Java
• Extensive hands-on experience with Spring Framework and related Java technologies (Spring Boot, Spring Data)
• Strong proficiency in NoSQL databases, particularly MongoDB, along with solid knowledge of SQL systems (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL)
• A deep understanding of network protocols, client-server architecture, and API design (e.g., REST, Sockets).
• Extensive experience in multithreaded environments
• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS
• Experience with version control systems, particularly Git
• Familiar with Python scripting
• Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills
• A passion for gaming and a strong understanding of what makes games engaging
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities
• Fluent in English, with strong verbal and written communication skills
