Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary liaison between accounting business users, project teams, vendors, and technology stakeholders, representing and advocating for the business throughout the project lifecycle.
- Lead requirements gathering sessions, stakeholder interviews, and workshops; document current- and future-state processes, business requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
- Analyze accounting operations to identify opportunities for process improvement and automation, translating business needs into requirements that align with operational objectives.
- Facilitate discussions between business and technical teams to drive stakeholder consensus, ensure proposed solutions will adequately meet business needs
- Support accounting transformation initiatives — system implementations, process redesign, and data conversion — including participation in solution design reviews to validate requirements are accurately reflected.
- Develop and execute UAT strategies and plans, including writing test scripts and scenarios and coordinating testing activities with business users.
- Track defects, facilitate resolution, and support business sign-off; assist with data validation, reconciliation, and conversion testing.
- Partner with stakeholders to manage risks and resolve issues, producing clear project documentation, training materials, and business communications.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related discipline, or a comparable combination of education and relevant accounting-related work experience.
- Strong accounting background with the ability to understand and discuss accounting processes and controls. Experience supporting general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, month-end close, financial reporting, or order-to-cash processes.
- 8+ years of Business Analyst experience supporting accounting, finance, or financial systems initiatives.
- Demonstrated hands-on experience leading business analysis activities and personally owning key BA activities, such as requirements, documenting business processes, creating user stories, and developing acceptance criteria.
- Experience with Blackline, Kyriba, Guidewire, or similar accounting, financial, treasury, or policy administration platforms.
- Experience supporting accounting transformations, system implementations, or significant process improvement initiatives.
- Experience representing business users when working with technical teams, software vendors, or implementation partners.
- Experience working with complex financial data, reconciliations, data validation, and issue resolution.
- Hands-on involvement in User Acceptance Testing (UAT), including writing test scripts, coordinating testing activities, documenting defects, and supporting business sign-off.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with senior leadership and business stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
- CPA certification.
- Commercial insurance industry experience.
- Consulting experience supporting multiple clients or large-scale transformation initiatives.
