Company Name: IG North America (tastytrade, tastylive, tastyfx, tastycrypto)
Role: Senior Business Analyst
Location: Chicago, IL – Hybrid (3 days/week in office)

tastytrade is seeking a Sr. Business Analyst to operate at the intersection of business operations, data, and finance. This role is critical to how the organization evaluates where to invest, sizes of opportunities, and measures whether those investments delivered. You will have the autonomy to own analyses end-to-end, from source data to strategic recommendations, and the opportunity to engage with senior leadership and cross-functional teams across the business.

You combine financial modeling with enough technical proficiency in Python, SQL, and Tableau to explore data independently, validate your own assumptions, and build supporting analyses without relying on a data team for every question, but this is not just a reporting or dashboarding role. The differential value you bring is in knowing what questions to ask, structuring ambiguous problems, and framing answers for decision-makers. You will partner closely with the business to help answer “what is this worth?” and “did it work?” for proposed and completed initiatives and help inform what our forward-looking strategy should be.

In your first year, you will establish a structured, data-driven framework to evaluate key business initiatives and deliver analysis that directly informs how we grow.

What You’ll Do:

Opportunity Analysis and Business Cases

  • Identify, evaluate, and size business opportunities across the organization, including new revenue streams, cost reduction initiatives, and operational improvements
  • Build financial models and business cases for proposed projects and strategic initiatives, quantifying expected ROI, payback periods, and risk factors
  • Conduct competitive and market analysis to inform strategic decisions around product offerings, customer acquisition, and business expansion
  • Partner with leadership to evaluate trade-offs between competing priorities and resource allocation decisions
  • Leverage data across multiple sources to uncover patterns and deliver insights that directly shape business and financial decisions

Value Measurement and Accountability

  • Define success metrics and measurement frameworks for strategic initiatives before they launch, establishing clear targets for what good looks like
  • Build and maintain post-implementation tracking to measure whether projects delivered their projected value, identifying gaps and recommending course corrections
  • Develop recurring reporting on the business impact of completed initiatives, connecting team output to financial outcomes
  • Own the end-to-end analysis lifecycle for key business questions, from data gathering through recommendation and follow-up

Cross-Functional Partnership

  • Work across product, business operations, data, and finance to ensure alignment on how opportunities are evaluated and how success is measured
  • Partner with the data analytics team on deeper analytical needs while handling initial data exploration, opportunity sizing, and ad hoc analysis independently
  • Collaborate with finance on budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis related to strategic initiatives
  • Support executive decision-making by providing clear, data-backed recommendations on where the business should and should not invest

Who You Are:

  • A critical thinker who thrives on solving ambiguous problems through rigorous analysis and structured reasoning
  • Business-minded, with a deep curiosity about how a brokerage makes money, where it loses money, and what levers are available to change those dynamics
  • Technically proficient in Python, SQL, and a BI tool like Tableau, enough to pull and explore data, build models in spreadsheets or notebooks, and validate your own work without leaning on a data team for every question. You are not expected to be a data engineer or a software developer.
  • Experienced in financial modeling, including comfort with revenue modeling, cost-benefit analysis, scenario planning, and sensitivity analysis
  • A clear communicator who can distill complex technical or financial findings into actionable business narratives for senior leadership
  • Comfortable operating in ambiguity and fast-changing environments, with the ability to pivot quickly and still deliver clarity
  • Strong sense of ownership and follow-through, including the willingness to track outcomes long after a project has launched

Education and Experience:

  • 3 to 6 years of experience in a role that required building financial models, sizing business opportunities, or evaluating investment decisions
  • MBA with a concentration in analytics, finance, or strategy is a plus, equivalent professional experience in FP&A, strategy, consulting, or business intelligence within financial services
  • Experience in retail brokerage, trading platforms, fintech, or capital markets preferred
  • Familiarity with customer acquisition economics, lifetime value modeling, or unit economics in a financial services context is a plus

Company Perks + Benefits:

  • Performance Bonuses
  • Stock Purchase Options
  • 401k Plan
  • Medical/Dental/Vision Benefits
  • 20 Paid Vacation Days (plus an additional paid vacation day the month of your birthday!)
  • 10 Paid Sick Days
  • Gym Membership Reimbursement
  • Commuter Benefits
  • Pet Insurance
  • Wellness & Mental Health Programs
  • Charitable Donation Matching
  • Two Paid Volunteer Days Off
  • Daily catered lunch when in the office
  • Full kitchen with snacks and beverages
  • In-building gym
  • Shuttle to/from Metra

Salary Range: $115,000 - $145,000
The actual salary offered will be based on the candidate's level of experience and qualifications

Discretionary performance bonus: 8-12% of base salary based on individual and company performance
