This role is a key partner in designing, administering, and continuously improving compensation programs aligned with organizational objectives. You will lead compensation analysis, market benchmarking, salary structure governance, annual compensation cycles, and pay equity activities, while providing expert guidance to HR and leaders through data-driven insights and recommendations.

Key Responsibilities

1) Compensation Strategy & Program Management

  • Support the design, implementation, and evolution of compensation policies and strategies aligned with company objectives.
  • Act as a subject matter expert on compensation practices (base salary, incentives/bonus, job leveling, salary structures).
  • Provide consultative guidance to HR Business Partners and leaders on compensation decisions, internal equity, and competitive positioning.

2) Market Benchmarking & Analytics

  • Lead market studies to compare and evaluate internal and external salary data and recommend adjustments as needed.
  • Prepare, analyze, and present compensation reports and insights to support strategic decision-making.
  • Develop and maintain dashboards and recurring reporting to monitor trends (e.g., compa-ratio, salary distribution, equity indicators).

3) Salary Structures, Job Architecture & Governance

  • Lead the development, maintenance, and governance of salary grids/structures and ensure consistent application across the organization.
  • Partner with HR to support role evaluation, job matching, and leveling to ensure internal consistency and clarity.
  • Contribute to policy documentation, decision frameworks, and compensation guidelines.

4) Annual Compensation Cycles (Merit, Bonus, Performance)

  • Coordinate and support annual compensation processes including performance-linked salary adjustments and bonus cycles.
  • Provide scenario modeling, budget support, and quality control (data validation, eligibility, approvals, audit trails).
  • Create manager-facing materials and guidance (FAQs, training, toolkits) to drive consistent decision-making.

5) Pay Equity & Compliance

  • Lead or co-lead the maintenance of the pay equity file and ensure compliance with legal requirements and best practices.
  • Prepare and update pay equity reporting for internal audits and/or regulatory submissions as required.
  • Ensure compensation practices align with applicable laws and regulations and support internal controls.

6) Cross-Functional Collaboration & Continuous Improvement

  • Partner with HR and other stakeholders on projects such as benefits integration, HR audits, and process optimization.
  • Identify opportunities to improve compensation processes through better tools, automation, and reporting. 

Skills & Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent relevant experience) in HR, Finance, Business, Analytics, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of progressive compensation experience (including market pricing, salary structures, and annual comp cycles).
  • Strong analytical capability and advanced Excel skills (formulas, pivot tables, data modeling).
  • Proven ability to handle confidential data with rigor, attention to detail, and sound judgment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in French and English English is necessary to perform certain job-related tasks, including communicating and collaborating with stakeholders located outside Quebec (e.g., teams, clients, vendors, partners) and reviewing/drafting compensation documentation (salary surveys, reports, tools) available in English. In accordance with the Charter of the French Language, this requirement is limited to situations where the use of English is essential.

Assets & Nice to have

  • Experience supporting pay equity maintenance, analysis, and reporting.
  • Experience working with or familiarity with compensation practices across multiple countries / jurisdictions (e.g., market pricing, salary structures, and global compensation frameworks)
  • Experience with HR systems and reporting tools (e.g., HiBob, Dayforce, UKG, People Soft or similar).
