What You Will Do:

The Guidehouse Communities, Energy, and Infrastructure segment is a go-to partner for leaders creating sustainable, resilient communities and infrastructure, serving as trusted advisors to utilities and energy companies, large corporations, investors, NGOs, and the public sector. The North Market Team within the Energy Providers practice works with utility clients across the energy value chain. We assist our clients in three key domains:

  • Customer programs (e.g., energy efficiency, heat electrification, demand response) spanning strategy, design, and evaluation.

  • Modernization of electric and natural gas infrastructure and operations

  • Regulatory strategy, business strategy, program management, and digital transformation efforts

As a Senior Consultant on the Energy Providers North Market Team, you will play a key role to shape the future of our Energy Provider clients – predominantly, electric and natural gas utilities. In your project teams, you will collaborate with our team of energy and technology experts to support critical and complex projects. You will be responsible for completing analyses and preparing and communicating well-organized, effective reports and presentations to clients. You will lead, coach, and mentor others on the team to ensure quality analysis and deliverables. We are looking for someone with passion who is interested in developing their expertise and industry relationships. They will have a passion for creative problem-solving, client service, and project management.

Key responsibilities for this position include:

  • Contributing to creative problem-solving to drive outcomes for clients

  • Providing detailed fact findings, research, and analysis on energy-related activities (particularly customer programs (e.g., energy efficiency, heat electrification, demand response), grid modernization, renewable energy, new business models, and sustainability)

  • Performing statistical and economic analyses in Excel and/or R

  • Preparing workshop and meeting materials, attending sessions, and summarizing outcomes

  • Preparing reports, presentations, and other documents for client deliverables

  • Interviewing business managers, technology experts, and public policy officials

  • Presenting results of assigned tasks and analyses that resonate with clients

  • Working effectively with colleagues and client staff as part of a project team; work independently as needed

What You Will Need:

  • Due to contract requirements, US Citizenship restrictions apply; No sponsorship is available for this position

  • Bachelor’s degree (in an engineering, business, economics, environmental, science and/or related discipline)

  • 3-5 years of relevant industry or consulting experience excluding internships/co-ops/fellowships

  • Demonstrated team player with ability to lead

  • Client service orientation

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Experience developing and delivering presentations in PowerPoint

  • Outstanding analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Proficiency with data analytics

  • Strong interest in customer programs (e.g., energy efficiency, heat electrification, demand response), grid modernization, utility operational technology and/or information technology, business and regulatory strategy, and/or program management

  • An inquisitive nature and desire for continuous improvement

  • Tireless attention to detail in all prior experience (academic and professional)

  • Superior interpersonal skills

  • Ability to manage several tasks simultaneously, prioritize and plan work activities while meeting respective deadlines.

  • Highly developed organizational and management skills

  • Ability to travel as needed

  • The salary range for this role may vary based on relevant degree, work experience and physical location at time of hire

What Would Be Nice To Have:

  • Advanced degree (Master’s, MBA, PhD) in an engineering, business, economics, environmental science and/or related discipline

  • Advanced experience with Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft PowerPoint

  • Contribute to creative problem-solving to drive outcomes for clients.

  • Provide detailed fact findings, research, and analysis on energy-related activities (particularly energy efficiency, grid modernization, renewable energy, customer programs, new business models, and sustainability)

  • Experience creating models within Excel and/or experience with R or other programming languages (e.g., Python)

  • Relevant energy industry, utility, and/or consulting experience, which may include experience with specific Energy Provider accounts

  • Knowledge and experience in industry topics such as customer programs (e.g, energy efficiency, heat electrification, demand response), renewable energy, electric transmission and distribution infrastructure, natural gas systems, wholesale electric markets

  • Excellent at visualizing data, synthesizing insights, and storytelling with data

  • A history of successful, creative problem-solving

  • Excitement to explore the underlying cause of the observation/result

The annual salary range for this position is $89,000.00-$148,000.00. Compensation decisions depend on a wide range of factors, including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, security clearances, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs.
