Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced individual to join our team as a Senior Consultant. The Senior Consultant is a recognized national expert in All Payer Claims Databases (APCDs), Multi Payer Claims Databases, Medicaid data, and/or other State health databases and is experienced in leading implementation projects. Reporting to a Principal Consultant, you will mentor and supervise 2-4 Project Managers and work closely with our clients in state governments and non-profits to design and efficiently implement health database initiatives to the highest quality standards, and then advise on how to leverage the collected data to develop analytics and visualizations that advance State priorities. We are looking for a leader who partners with our clients to set a project vision, clearly articulates each team member’s role in achieving it, and drives the project forward while navigating evolving priorities. Your expertise in health data project design and management combined with your deep understanding of national health policy trends will be instrumental in delivering impactful solutions and expanding Freedman HealthCare’s professional service offerings.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Serve as trusted advisor to State-agency clients and others that work in the healthcare industry to understand their specific challenges and goals and propose appropriate and creative methodologies and approaches.
  • Serve as lead and accountable party on cutting edge health data projects, with responsibility for project design and execution of all client deliverables, including content, quality, and accuracy.
  • Delegate work to, and oversee, cross-functional project teams – including data engineers, project managers, and subject matter experts – to achieve project goals and deliverables on time and on budget.
  • Scope and draft written deliverables, organizing key information in a clear and impactful manner.
  • Supervise 2-4 Project Managers, providing guidance, mentorship, and support, including day-to-day supervision and performance review.
  • Lead stakeholder meetings
  • Develop and deliver national presentations.
  • Identify opportunities to expand Freedman HealthCare’s professional service offerings, including guidance on entering new markets and other business development opportunities
  • Lead business development activities, including serving as lead writer on RFP’s and other bid proposals.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Recognized national expert in implementing and leveraging Multi Payer Claims Databases, Medicaid data, and/or other State health databases to advance State priorities
  • Proven success in business development
  • Substantial experience in successfully leading and managing heath data projects
  • Experience in project design and evaluation, including experience in defining project roles and delegating tasks appropriately
  • Experience serving as a supervisor and mentor
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to multi-task and work under deadlines.
  • Demonstrable writing and presentation skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to gather requirements for analytic requests and translate them into technical specifications as well as derive insights from complex datasets and identify trends and key takeaways in a clear manner
  • Self-motivation and time management skills, with the ability to thrive in a remote work environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Attentiveness to evolving client needs 
  • Strategic mindset, with the ability to align work and project approaches with FHC’s business objectives
  • Creative problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite, including Microsoft Project, Excel and PowerPoint

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Advance degree (Master’s of Public Health or similar) preferred
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience leading and managing project teams in the health data or health policy fields
  • Minimum of two years of experience as a direct supervisor

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
