Job Description

Position Purpose: We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Cost Accountant to join our Finance team. Managing and analyzing all cost accounting activities, including standard costing, inventory valuation, variance analysis, and cost reporting. The ideal candidate has a strong background in manufacturing accounting and can partner with cross-functional teams to drive cost control and operational efficiency

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Develop and maintain accurate standard costing for products, including labor, materials, and overhead.
  • Analyze production costs and variances, including purchase price, material usage, labor, and overhead.
  • Prepare monthly cost of goods sold (COGS) and inventory valuation reports.
  • Support & Analyze month-end close activities related to inventory and cost accounting.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing, procurement, and operations teams to monitor cost trends and ensure cost accuracy.
  • Conduct inventory analysis, including cycle counts, and reconciliation. (Support the Supply Chain and Warehouse teams)
  • Support the annual budget process by providing cost projections and analysis. (Support the Lean team)
  • Assist with audits and ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting standards (GAAP/IFRS), and company policies.
  • Recommend process improvements for cost accounting procedures and systems.
  • Participate in ERP system enhancements or implementations related to costing and inventory modules.

Qualifications

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree, major in Accounting, Finance or related field (CPA or CMA preferred)
  • 5+ years of experience in cost accounting, preferably in a manufacturing environment, with progressive responsibilities
  • Strong understanding of standard costing, variance analysis, and inventory accounting
  • Experience with ERP systems, advanced level in SAP FI/CO environment
  • High attention to detail and high analytical and problem-solving skills, with ability to communicate autonomously analytical details across departments
  • Well-developed organizational skills and ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and other financial analysis tools

PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:

  • CMA certification or progress toward it
  • Strong written/verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience in Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma environments is a nice to have
