Job Description

Seeking a Senior Cost Accountant to provide timely information for the manufacturing and distribution operations that meets corporate requirements and guides effective business decisions that deliver profitable growth.  The primary responsibilities include financial management of product costs and components, product margin reporting and analysis for actual and plan results, inventory management and analysis, monthly journal entries and account reconciliations, as well as special projects and ad hoc requests. 

Core Responsibilities:

  • Maintain accurate standard costs for new and existing products.

  • Maintain adequate internal controls to ensure the accuracy of inventory. 

  • Work with all financial aspects of inventory including: inventory reconciliation, inventory management, inventory journal entries, preparation of MOH and slow moving/obsolete inventory reports.

  • Complete month end journal entries, reconcile balance sheet accounts, analyze variances, and complete bridge schedules and spending analyses.

  • Collect and analyze data to determine the cost of business activities, such as raw material costs, labor, freight, packaging and other variable costs.

  • Work with operations, sales and marketing teams to proactively improve KPIs, including slow moving and obsolete inventory and MOH, and identify areas to improve profitability.

  • Review and analyze purchase price variation (PPV).

  • Develop and communicate intercompany transfer prices.

  • Financial leader for cycle count inventory program, including ensuring counts are in compliance with ITW Policy, researching discrepancies, and reporting on root causes.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Bachelor degree required; CPA preferred

  • 5+ years of accounting experience

  • Cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment

  • Understanding of financial statements and accounting principles/practices

  • Excellent analytical skills, including the ability to analyze raw data and apply creative/innovative analysis, to form key, succinct, and actionable insights/recommendations

  • Attention to detail

  • Collaborative and highly communicative with high orientation to teamwork
