Location: This position may be based out of our San Mateo headquarters or remotely within the US

About the role:

Skydio Training is transforming how pilots and technicians learn. As our programs continue to evolve beyond traditional classroom instruction into immersive, simulation-driven learning experiences, we're seeking a Senior Curriculum Developer to architect the future of sUAS training for critical industry.

This role owns the instructional backbone of our programs: what trainees need to be able to do, how they learn it, and how we prove they've learned it. You'll perform task analysis on complex technical systems, define performance-based learning objectives, design assessments and certification paths, and sequence content across classroom, self-paced, simulation, and immersive delivery modalities.

Working closely with instructors, learning experience developers, software engineers, simulation developers, and subject matter experts, you'll help shape the future of Skydio's pilot and technician training ecosystem.

How you'll make an impact:

  • Own curriculum architecture end to end: conduct job and task analyses, define performance-based learning objectives, and build course maps that scale across audiences and product lines.

  • Translate sophisticated technical systems into structured learning paths spanning classroom instruction, self-paced learning, simulation, and immersive training environments.

  • Design assessments, practical evaluations, and certification and qualification standards that measure real operational capability rather than recall.

  • Partner with Learning Experience Developers to scope and storyboard instructional media, ensuring every asset maps to a defined objective.

  • Enable instructors through facilitator guides, lesson plans, train-the-trainer materials, and delivery standards that keep quality consistent across regions and teams.

  • Expand the instructional use of Skydio Paraverse across pilot and technician curricula, and design scenario-based learning that takes advantage of simulation, AR/VR, and interactive visualization.

  • Apply AI-assisted workflows to accelerate curriculum development, content maintenance, and localization without compromising instructional rigor.

  • Establish scalable curriculum standards, templates, and revision workflows, and maintain content currency as products evolve.

  • Define and track learning effectiveness measures, then use the data to iterate on curriculum.

  • Help define the roadmap for future learning technologies and curriculum strategy at Skydio.

What Makes you a good fit:

  • BA/BS in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, Curriculum and Instruction, Adult Education, or equivalent experience.

  • 7+ years designing and developing curriculum for educational, instructional, or technical training programs.

  • Demonstrated expertise in instructional systems design, including task analysis, objective writing, assessment design, and evaluation.

  • Experience building curriculum for complex technical products or specialized subject matter.

  • Working knowledge of adult learning principles and performance-based training.

  • Strong portfolio of curriculum artifacts, such as course maps, lesson plans, facilitator guides, and assessment instruments.

  • Experience collaborating with engineers, media producers, instructors, and technical subject matter experts.

  • Excellent communication, project management, and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience supporting aviation, aerospace, robotics, defense, industrial equipment, autonomous systems, or similarly technical products.

  • Experience designing curriculum for regulated or certification-driven environments, such as FAA Part 107, Part 91, or military qualification and training standards.

  • Experience designing scenario-based or simulator-based learning, including scenario scripting and evaluation criteria.

  • Familiarity with immersive learning technologies including XR, simulation, or digital twins, and with the instructional design considerations they introduce.

  • Experience with LMS administration and standards such as SCORM, xAPI, or cmi5, including curriculum tracking and reporting.

  • Experience leveraging AI-assisted instructional design or content development workflows.

  • Familiarity with geospatial visualization or spatial data workflows.

  • Experience with train-the-trainer programs and scaling delivery across distributed instructor teams.
