Applicants for employment in the US must have work authorization that does not now or in the future require sponsorship of a visa for employment authorization in the United Stated and with the Kroger Family of Companies (i.e. H1-B visa, F-1 visa (OPT), TN visa or any other non-immigrant status).

The Forecast Center of Excellence (FCOE) manages a set of forecasts used by Kroger in both supply chain and labor planning. We work with diverse data sets to ensure we have the best price, promotion, and historical sales information possible. We are looking for someone to take on the role of learning our data sets and becoming an SME on how to use this data appropriately. This includes documenting the data, sharing that knowledge, identifying opportunities for improvements, and assisting in projects aimed at improving data usage. Many of the questions the FCOE team receives about our forecasts involve an examination of the data used to make that forecast and identifying potential issues with that data. As such, this role may also involve assisting with forecast questions when they involve a need to analyze and explore our data.

As a Senior Data Analyst, you are joining a cross-functional community that includes analysts, data scientists, product managers, program leads and software engineers. Your superpower is data expertise, and your passion lies in enabling others to understand and use data to appropriately solve business problems. You always bring strong critical thinking, collaboration, and problem-solving skills to your work.

Responsibilities

  • Become the Data SME: Dive deep into our data, develop expertise in its structure and meaning, and become the go-to resource for data-related questions.
  • Document & Share Knowledge: Create clear documentation, data dictionaries, flow diagrams, and business rules to help others understand and use our data confidently.
  • Collaborate Across Teams: Partner with data science, product, and engineering teams to validate new use cases, assess data quality, and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Solve Data Challenges: Analyze and resolve data issues, discrepancies, and questions, supporting internal teams in making informed decisions.
  • Drive Data Discovery: Explore new and existing data sources, perform queries and analyses (primarily using SQL in Databricks), and help shape how data is used across the organization.
  • Champion Data Governance: Work with 84.51° and Kroger/KTD data governance teams to ensure data quality, reliability, and compliance with enterprise standards.

Qualifications, Skills, and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • 2–4 years of relevant experience in data management, architecture, governance, science, or related fields.
  • Strong SQL (and/or PySpark) skills, with experience working on large data sets.
  • Technical understanding of data structures, flow diagrams, and ability to read/write Python/PySpark code.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams.
  • Curiosity, creativity, determination, an eye for detail, and big picture thinking.
