We are seeking a proactive and results-driven Senior Data Scientist to join our team. Reporting directly to the Head of Economic Risk and Strategy, you will play a critical role in advancing our modeling capabilities and delivering powerful data insights across decentralized finance. In this role, you will collaborate with protocol teams and internal stakeholders to support strategic research, simulation, and risk analysis.

Responsibilities:

  • Work alongside leading crypto engineers and product managers to deep dive into market-leading protocols and help drive game-changing insights and predictions (see example)
  • Lead and drive innovative research to understand how different actors in the crypto market behave and interact, and drive modeling of such actors into Chaos Labs’ simulation platform
  • Present your insights and suggestions to audiences both internally and externally with the opportunity to publish industry-defining research
  • Explore new algorithms and techniques to surface insights in DeFi security and optimizations
  • Build data models and visualizations of public blockchain data and simulation results that provide intuitive analytics to customers such as AAVE, Uniswap, dydx, and others
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure high-quality outputs.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement and innovation of our platform.
  • 4+ years of professional experience in Data Science – a must
  • Strong trading background required, including experience building models and deep understanding of derivatives, pricing, financial markets, and systems
  • Previous experience in FinTech
  • Solid understanding of machine learning techniques and algorithms
  • Hands-on experience with Python and relevant data science packages
  • You love working in small, dynamic, fast-paced teams that encourage you to learn and grow
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and a passion for DeFi and blockchain technology

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Based in NYC with the ability to work from our Brooklyn office, or the ability to work remotely in the USA, with travel up to 30% of the year to collaborate in person with the team.
  • Bonus points for prior web3 experience using Dune or writing smart contracts
  • Bonus points for DeFi knowledge
  • Broader understanding of crypto and blockchain ecosystem – a plus
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
