The Impact You’ll Make in this Role
As the visionary Director of Agentic & Gen AI Sciences, you will lead innovation at the intersection to advanced AI, healthcare, and NLU. You will be responsible for shaping our strategic direction in Agentic AI and GenAI technologies, driving cutting-edge research into production, and ensuring our solutions improve efficiency, accuracy, scalability and consistency.
Key responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
Define and execute the Agentic AI & GenAI research and development strategy for HIS products.
Lead cross-functional AI science teams to deliver NLU-powered and autonomous AI solutions that enhance product capabilities.
Establish partnerships with academic, research, and healthcare organizations to drive innovation.
AI Research & Development
Oversee the development of agent-based AI systems.
Advance state-of-the-art NLU and LLM technologies for HIS-specific language models, clinical text understanding, and workflow automation.
Ensure models meet the highest standards for accuracy, fairness, explainability, and compliance with healthcare regulations.
Operational Excellence
Build and mentor a team of AI scientists, engineers, and product collaborators.
Establish and manage AI model evaluation, validation, and monitoring frameworks.
Work closely with product management and engineering to bring innovations from research into production at scale.
Your Skills and Expertise
To set you up for success in this role from day one, Solventum requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:
Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computational Linguistics, AI/ML, or related field (Ph.D. preferred).AND 14+ years of experience in AI/ML research & development.
OR
PhD in Computer Science, Computational Linguistics, AI/ML, or related field (Ph.D. preferred).AND 8+ years of experience in AI/ML research & development
Demonstrated expertise in Natural Language Understanding (NLU), large language models, and conversational AI.
Proven track record applying AI in healthcare or life sciences domains.
Hands-on experience with modern AI frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow, Hugging Face, LangChain, etc.).
Familiarity with healthcare data formats and standards (FHIR, HL7, SNOMED CT, ICD-10, CPT).
5+ years of leadership experience managing direct reports, including hiring, performance reviews, and people development.
Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role
Experience with agent-based AI systems and autonomous AI frameworks.
Strong understanding of knowledge graphs, reasoning engines, and multi-modal AI.
Familiarity with healthcare privacy and compliance requirements (HIPAA, HITRUST).
Ability to translate complex AI capabilities into business value.

This range represents a good faith estimate for this position. The specific compensation offered to a candidate may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s relevant knowledge, training, skills, work location, and/or experience. In addition, this position may be eligible for a range of benefits (e.g., Medical, Dental & Vision, Health Savings Accounts, Health Care & Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts, Disability Benefits, Life Insurance, Voluntary Benefits, Paid Absences and Retirement Benefits, etc.).
