About This Role:
We are seeking a high-impact finance leader to lead the Business Finance organization supporting Commercial and Operations. This role is accountable for the quality, integration, and accuracy of Commercial and Operations forecasts and for building strong finance leaders, scalable business-finance capabilities, and disciplined performance-management processes. Forecasts and day-to-day business partnership will be delivered through the respective Commercial Finance and Operations Finance leaders and their teams. This role will work in close partnership with Corporate FP&A, which owns the enterprise planning process, consolidated forecast, management reporting, and planning systems, and with IR and Strategic Finance, which owns investor relations, strategic finance, and M&A support.
The Senior Director will operate as a leader of leaders: setting expectations, challenging assumptions, integrating Commercial and Operations perspectives, and holding the organization accountable for forecast accuracy and actionable insights. The role will engage directly with business executives on the most consequential decisions, risks, and performance matters without becoming the primary day-to-day business partner for either function.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Finance Leadership & Talent Development
- Lead and develop the Commercial Finance and Operations Finance Senior Managers and their teams, building each leader’s readiness for broader Director-level responsibility.
- Set clear expectations, operating rhythms, and standards across Business Finance, fostering ownership, accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Coach the Senior Managers as the primary day-to-day finance partners to their respective functions while engaging directly on the most consequential business matters.
Business Finance Leadership & Forecast Accountability
- Serve as the single accountable Finance leader for Commercial and Operations forecasting, including revenue, cost of revenue, gross margin, operating expenses, and capital investments; own forecast accuracy, integrity, transparency, and continuous improvement through the respective Finance leaders and teams.
- Ensure integrated, decision-useful forecasts and performance insights through consistent analytical rigor, planning processes, and clear ownership of assumptions, risks, opportunities, and variances.
- Engage with Commercial and Operations executives on material decisions, performance gaps, risks, and trade-offs while routine business support remains with the respective Finance leaders.
- Partner with Corporate FP&A to translate Commercial and Operations forecasts into the enterprise plan and consolidated outlook.
Business Finance Transformation & Scale
- Lead Business Finance transformation initiatives that improve forecast quality, analytical capacity, business insight, and organizational leverage.
- Translate recurring challenges into scalable processes, clear decision rights, and sustainable team capabilities, reducing manual work and key-person dependencies.
- Develop metrics, management tools, and operating-review processes that improve visibility, accountability, and execution.
- Partner with Corporate FP&A on enterprise planning-process improvements and with Strategic Finance on transaction diligence and integration, retaining ownership of Commercial and Operations inputs and execution.
Business Finance Data & Analytics Requirements
- Define and prioritize the data, reporting, and analytics requirements needed by Commercial Finance and Operations Finance to improve forecasting, performance management, and decision support.
- Own business requirements for Commercial and Operations Finance use cases, including Snowflake-based reporting and analytics, and establish the related business rules, definitions, and controls.
- Partner with Corporate FP&A, the planning-systems team, IT, Data Engineering, and business stakeholders on enterprise solutions; Corporate FP&A retains ownership of planning-system architecture and enterprise planning governance.
Cross-Functional Execution & Decision Support
- Lead cross-functional initiatives that materially affect Commercial or Operations performance and require integrated financial leadership.
- Bring an enterprise perspective to resource allocation, investment choices, operating trade-offs, and performance improvement.
- Coordinate with Corporate FP&A and IR and Strategic Finance so business outlooks, enterprise plans, strategic analyses, and external narratives use consistent assumptions.
Experience and Minimum Qualifications:
- Minimum of 15 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field; or 12 years with a Master’s degree; or equivalent experience, including substantial leadership in Commercial Finance, Operations Finance, or business FP&A.
- Minimum of 7–10 years of leadership experience, with demonstrated success developing experienced finance leaders and building high-performing teams through others.
- Demonstrated accountability for integrated business forecasts and forecast accuracy across revenue, gross margin, operating expenses, and capital investment.
- Experience designing scalable processes, governance, organizational capabilities, and business requirements and leading cross-functional transformation with technology partners.
- Experience contributing business-finance expertise to acquisitions, integrations, and organizational change in partnership with Strategic Finance or corporate development.
- Strong executive presence and ability to influence senior leaders.
- Experience leading finance organizations in a regulated industry such as medical device, healthcare services, medtech, or a related environment.
- Public-company experience, including work with internal and external auditors and support of SOX-compliant processes and controls.
- Strong analytical and financial modeling skills, with the ability to translate operational data into clear financial implications and actionable recommendations.
- Enterprise-minded leader with sound judgment, strong communication skills, and the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, matrixed environment.
- High integrity and discretion, proficiency with financial planning, enterprise resource planning, and data and reporting platforms, and legal authorization to work in the country of employment without sponsorship.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities or Certifications:
- Experience with QAD or a comparable manufacturing ERP platform.
- Experience integrating acquired businesses, supporting new products or adjacencies, or working with globally distributed teams or shared-service organizations.
- Systems thinker and talent developer who can translate business challenges into scalable capabilities across people, process, data, technology, and organizational design.
- Collaborative, action-oriented leader who balances near-term needs with long-term scalability and operates effectively in ambiguity.
