Job Description:
Pluralsight is in a defining moment of transformation, and we’re looking for a Chief Information Security Officer to help shape what’s next. You’ll own our enterprise-wide security strategy, covering both our corporate environment and our products, and make sure the data of our customers and our business is protected. With new leadership, new investors, and a clear roadmap, you’ll have the chance to build a security program grounded in clarity, accountability, and operational rigor. You’ll work with talented peers around the world, grow alongside a team that loves to learn, and be trusted with the autonomy to make a measurable impact on a mission that matters: closing the technology skills gap.
What you’ll do
- Set and maintain the vision, strategy, architecture, and program that protect our information assets across corporate and product
- Make sure Pluralsight meets all applicable federal and state laws, policies, and client requirements for securing information
- Stay on top of changing security regulations, technology, and threats, and turn what you learn into clear policies, procedures, and security plans
- Monitor how well the organization follows security regulations, policies, and procedures, and set objectives that drive continuous improvement
- Lead regular independent third-party audits of our security, and develop, test, and improve our business continuity and disaster recovery program
- Deliver the security reports and assessments required by regulators and our clients
What you’ll bring
- Experience with our core security tools and platforms, such as AWS, Splunk, Zscaler, CrowdStrike, and Cisco
- A track record of turning complex regulations into practical policies that teams can follow
- A passion for operational rigor and a drive to keep refining processes
- Comfort working in a fast-paced environment and embracing the challenges of transformation
- A collaborative leadership style that builds trust, welcomes diverse perspectives, and makes sure every voice is heard
- A customer-first mindset and a habit of asking, “Is this the best way to do it?”
Requirements
- 12+ years of experience within information security, including 8+ years of people leadership experience
- Experience leading a company-wide information security program
- Expert-level knowledge of information security architecture, information security technologies, systems design, integration of systems, and networking
- Deep understanding of information security regulations, including (not limited to): Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA), Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program (FedRAMP), Federal Information Processing Standard (FIPS), National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS), Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), Personally Identifiable Information (PII), and Protected Health Information (PHI), and various other laws and regulations including Executive Orders
- Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate with information technology professionals as well as senior management and auditors, assessors, and inspectors
- Travel: Travel expectations differ by role. Some quota-bearing sales positions involve limited travel, while others may involve travel of up to 40%, depending on business needs.
- This is a remote role; however, applicants located within 45 miles of our Westlake/Dallas, TX office should expect to work on-site Tuesday through Thursday, with remote flexibility on Mondays and Fridays. This approach enables more effective collaboration, quicker decision-making, and a stronger culture, while still providing flexibility.
Why you’ll love working here
- We work in a blended environment that supports collaboration, flexibility, and connection across teams.
- We are mission-driven, shaping the future of tech upskillling and delivering impact that matters.
- We foster a culture of inclusion and belonging, where everyone can contribute and thrive.
- We are always learning, creating an environment where you can take on new challenges, expand your skills, and grow with purpose.
- Benefits include competitive compensation, bonus eligibility, comprehensive medical coverage, unlimited PTO, wellness reimbursement, professional development funds, and more.
