Position Purpose:

The Senior Director, Legal is a senior legal leader responsible for providing strategic and day-to-day legal support to Everise’s U.S. and global operations, with a primary focus on employment and labor law, litigation management, and commercial risk support. 

This role partners closely with HR, Operations, Finance, and executive leadership to manage legal risk in a highgrowth, highly regulated, multi-jurisdictional services environment and to deliver practical, business-oriented legal solutions. 

Job Requirements:
Employment & Labor Law Leadership

  • Serve as a primary legal advisor on U.S. and global employment matters, including hiring, discipline, performance management, terminations, and reductions in force.

  • Ensure wage and hour compliance (FLSA and state analogs), ADA, PWFA, FMLA, and state/local leave laws, including accommodation processes.

  • Advise on matters related to discrimination, retaliation, harassment, and whistleblower claims.

  • Provide guidance to HR and leadership on complex employee relations issues, investigations, and corrective actions.

  • Draft, review, and maintain employment-related documentation, including offer letters, employment agreements, restrictive covenants, severance and separation agreements, HR policies, handbooks, and compliance materials.

  • Monitor and proactively advise on changes in employment law across jurisdictions impacting Everise’s delivery model.

Litigation, Arbitration & Agency Matters

  • Manage employment and commercial litigation matters, including EEOC, DOL, and state agency claims, employment arbitrations, and civil litigation.

  • Partner with outside counsel on strategy, budgeting, and case management.

  • Support drafting of pleadings, motions, discovery responses, affidavits, and settlement documentation, as appropriate.

  • Coordinate internal investigations, litigation holds, and document production.

Commercial & Client Support

  • Draft, review, and negotiate agreements supporting Everise’s client and vendor relationships, including Master Services Agreements (MSAs), Statements of Work (SOWs), NDAs, vendor, technology, and professional services agreements.

  • Advise on indemnification, limitation of liability, data protection, insurance, and risk allocation.

  • Support client escalations and disputes in partnership with Operations and Finance.

  • Compliance, Governance & Risk

  • Support Everise’s compliance framework across employment, regulatory, and contractual obligations.

  • Assist with policy development, implementation, and enforcement.

  • Partner with HR, Risk, Finance, and Operations on enterprise risk mitigation initiatives.

  • Support audits, regulatory inquiries, and internal compliance reviews.

Strategic Business Partnership

  • Serve as a trusted legal advisor to senior leaders, balancing legal risk with operational objectives.

  • Provide clear, practical guidance in a fast-paced environment.

  • Prepare executive-level legal analyses, risk assessments, and recommendations.

Knowledge:
Education & Licensure

  • Juris Doctor (JD)

  • Active license to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction

  • Federal bar admission

Experience: 10–12 years of progressive legal experience, including:

  • Significant employment and labor law experience (in-house and/or law firm)

  • Experience managing employment litigation, arbitrations, and agency matters

  • Comfortable appearing in court or before an arbitrator

  • Transactional experience, including drafting, reviewing, and negotiating agreements

  • Experience advising HR and business leaders in a complex organization

  • Prior in-house experience strongly preferred

  • Experience supporting multi-state or global operations preferred

  • Occasional travel may be required.

Compensation & Benefits:
The anticipated base salary range for this remote position is between $160,000- $170,000. In addition, Everise provides benefits including medical coverage, dental, vision, disability, 401k, and paid time off. Depending on the specific role, compensation may also include discretionary bonus and other benefit programs. The actual compensation package may vary based on factors such as skill set, experience level, and candidate's location.
