We are looking for an experienced Senior Director of Software Engineering to lead our growth engineering team, reporting directly to the CTO. In this role, you will be responsible for growing our next generation of technical leaders, all while keeping the primary focus on our patients. You will partner closely with tech leads and engineers and cross functionally with our Product, Data, and InfoSec teams. Ultimately, your mission is to maximize the effectiveness of Engineering at Brightside through coaching, process improvement, pragmatic prioritization, collaboration, and enthusiasm!


What you’ll be doing as Senior Director of Software Engineering:

  • Embody, champion, and model our values and culture: The Brightside Way 
  • Mentor Engineering Managers (TLMs) into amazing leaders
  • Define and execute the technical roadmap for Growth Pod, and cross-functional dependencies 
  • Work with Product to define and execute the product roadmap
  • Work with Data to enforce and improve one of our key differentiators; use data to iterate on the roadmap quickly 
  • Work with InfoSec to maintain and increase our security maturity position
  • Influence and enforce quality assurance as an integrated engineering process
  • Support continuous improvement of product delivery and support processes


Requirements:

  • Managed teams of engineers at a HIPAA-compliant (or otherwise regulated) tech company 
  • Proven ability to lead and motivate software engineering team with greater than 20 engineers
  • 12+ years of progressive software development experience in roles of increasing responsibility in IT applications development, integration, and delivery experience
  • 6+ years experience with direct supervisory responsibility and management of engineering team
  • Career path in software development: IC (5+ years) → Manager (5+ years) → Senior Director (5+ years)
  • Positive and optimistic attitude
