Job Description

In the areas of SAP Supply Chain Management (LE, IM, WM/EWM) and related technologies, the Senior Engineer Technology will conceive, design, engineer, and implement data, software, and technology solutions that solve significant business problems and deliver measurable business value. This role will serve as a strategic technology partner to business stakeholders by identifying opportunities, defining technology roadmaps, and implementing scalable solutions that improve business outcomes. 

This role will investigate, identify, and implement state-of-the-art technology platforms, AI-enabled capabilities, automation opportunities, and digital solutions that drive productivity, efficiency, and operational excellence across Supply Chain and related business functions. This role will act as a lead engineer and trusted advisor in the area of expertise by evaluating emerging technologies, influencing solution direction, and integrating innovation into business technology solutions. 

The role will independently lead complex initiatives from strategy through execution while balancing business priorities, stakeholder expectations, technical excellence, compliance requirements, and long-term sustainability. 

Responsibilities:

  • Within systems of SAP (LE, IM, WM/EWM) and beyond, conceive, design, engineer, and implement software and technology solutions by studying business needs; partnering with stakeholders; analyzing systems, processes, and data flows; identifying opportunities for optimization; and resolving complex business and technical challenges. Demonstrate the ability to resolve key project hurdles and assumptions by effectively utilizing available information, business acumen, and technical expertise. Perform and validate SAP configurations and ensure solution quality. 
  • Serve as a trusted technology advisor to business stakeholders by understanding strategic objectives, operational challenges, and future business needs. Translate business requirements into innovative, scalable, and sustainable technology solutions that deliver measurable business value. 
  • Demonstrate high proficiency across a wide range of technologies and platforms related to software design and development, SAP ecosystems, data integration, analytics, cloud technologies, automation, artificial intelligence, and emerging digital capabilities. 
  • Demonstrate the ability to design and develop complex SAP solutions, lead architecture and design decisions, challenge assumptions, evaluate alternatives, and develop comprehensive testing strategies and scenarios. 
  • Independently drive large and complex initiatives with minimal supervision, demonstrating ownership, accountability, sound judgment, and proactive risk management from concept through successful implementation. 
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with business and technology leaders across functions. Effectively manage stakeholder expectations, align competing priorities, communicate risks and opportunities, and drive consensus among diverse stakeholder groups. 
  • Identify and leverage AI, automation, advanced analytics, and emerging technologies to simplify processes, improve decision-making, reduce manual effort, and increase organizational productivity and efficiency. 
  • Demonstrate knowledge of pharmaceutical and healthcare business processes and leverage that knowledge to rapidly deliver agile, impactful, compliant, and cost-effective solutions that support enterprise goals. 
  • Mature and leverage relationships with affiliates, subsidiaries, vendors, strategic partners, and industry peers in accordance with AbbVie Values, Vendor Management Office standards, and Purchasing guidelines to further the mission, vision, and goals of the organization. 
  • May mentor or supervise one or more team members and provide technical leadership, coaching, and guidance. Foster a culture of continuous learning, innovation, accountability, and high performance. Accountable for the effective performance of the team and individuals. 
  • Understand and adhere to corporate standards regarding applicable Corporate and Divisional Policies, including Code of Conduct, safety, GxP compliance, data security, AI governance, responsible technology use, and software development lifecycle requirements. 

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's Degree with 7 years of experience; Master's Degree with 6 years of experience; or PhD with 2 years of experience.
  • Possess thorough theoretical and practical understanding of SAP Supply Chain Management, including LE, IM, WM/EWM, and related business processes. 
  • Proven experience serving as a trusted advisor to business stakeholders and influencing technology and business decisions across functional areas. 
  • Proven expertise in SAP LE, IM, WM/EWM and integration technologies including APIs, EDI, IDOCs, and modern integration platforms. 
  • Demonstrated ability to strategically analyze complex business and technical problems, evaluate alternatives, and develop innovative solutions that create measurable business value. 
  • Excellent written, verbal, presentation, and executive communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience leveraging AI, intelligent automation, analytics, digital technologies, or emerging innovations to drive productivity improvements and business efficiencies. 

Preferred:

  • Experience within the pharmaceutical or healthcare industry preferred.

  • This job is eligible to participate in our long-term incentive programs.
