Senior Financial Analyst

Location: Remote

Position Overview

Specter Aerospace is seeking an Experienced or Senior Financial Analyst to support company operations by collaborating with the Financial Operations team.  The ideal candidate will be expected to build relationships across the company from interacting with company executives, directors, customers, suppliers, and the finance team.  The candidate will be expected to collect, compile, and document source data to provide financial analysis of forecasts and estimates for government projects.  Initiative, adaptability, attention to detail, and strong communication are crucial to succeed in this dynamic and exciting environment.

Specter is headquartered in Peabody, MA, just north of Boston, where it leverages its advanced propulsion technologies, manufacturing, and testing capabilities to rapidly develop supersonic and hypersonic systems. Funded by a mix of government R&D organizations, commercial customers, and private funding, Specter is a growing aerospace and defense startup. Close relationships with MIT, Notre Dame, MDA, AFRL, NRL, ANL, and other research organizations to provide cutting-edge developments, facilities, and personnel. Specter is expanding its team in preparation for flight testing and full-scale production.


Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and interface with the Finance Department to support and analyze cost and schedule data.
  • Create, maintain, and monitor Short, and Long-Range Spending Plans
  • Develop and maintain relationship with Customers, Suppliers, and company General Counsel
  • Strategize with Leadership and the Finance Department for future facility expansions or upgrades
  • Submit invoices to customers; and submit invoices via the Wide Area Workflow (WAWF) in the Procurement Integrated Enterprise Environment portal (PIEE)
  • Run routine weekly/monthly spending reports on contracts to provide visual for company directors
  • Collaborate effectively with others in a fast-paced, and high-demand environment
  • Support the Finance Department with bookkeeping procedures when support is needed, and participate in process improvement initiatives
  • Assisting with proposal costs, secondary financial documentation and all other Earn Value (EV) activities as required by customers.

Required Qualifications

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Ability to hold and maintain a U.S. security clearance
  • 2+ years of experience in a business-related function (including, but not limited to: Finance, Accounting, Analytics, Contracts, Estimating, Procurement, Financial Analysis, Business Operations)
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail, discretion, and follow-through
  • Professional communication skills and comfort interacting with executives, customers, vendors, and government personnel
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a secure, fast-paced environment
  • Willingness to periodically travel to support company operations
  • Intermediate or advanced experience in Microsoft and other software for financial reporting (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with QuickBooks
  • Experience with GovBooks
  • Experience with financial and accounting principles in government contracting (knowledge of Federal Acquisition Regulations and Government Accounting)
  • Experience in briefing Executives, Company Directors, and other appropriate staff members with financial reporting

Location: Remote (may be expected to travel periodically in support of company operations)
