About the company
Our client is a software company.
The role
Raydar is recruiting for this role on behalf of our client. Join a small engineering group as a hands-on full stack developer, first helping speed up user interface delivery and then shifting toward backend-heavy work. You will take responsibility for features across their whole lifecycle and help colleagues adopt AI-assisted ways of writing code.
What you'll do
- Partner with a frontend engineer to remove delivery bottlenecks and get interface improvements into production faster.
- Gradually take on more backend-oriented work, including new capabilities, infrastructure and core services.
- Drive features from initial design through release and ongoing stability, with little supervision.
- Introduce and promote effective practices for developing software with AI coding agents.
- Work alongside customer-facing engineers, researchers and founders to prototype and refine new product ideas.
Requirements
What we're looking for
- Roughly 5 years of professional software engineering experience (a range of 3 to 10 is considered), including senior full stack or comparable roles.
- A history of launching new products or substantial features from an early idea into live use, ideally in a fast-paced startup.
- Strong backend-leaning full stack skills with at least intermediate frontend ability, and the judgment to debug AI-generated code that falls short.
- Hands-on responsibility for system design, releases and operational stability.
- An assertive, opinionated approach to AI-assisted development and getting the most out of coding agents.
- A self-directed builder mindset: high ownership, little need for guidance, and flexibility when priorities change.
- Genuine interest in the company's mission and a thoughtful reason for wanting to join.
- Residence in the US or Canada and openness to periodic on-site visits to a California office, roughly one week in every six.
- Existing authorization to work in the US or Canada without sponsorship.
Bonus points
- Interest in physical systems, CAD or simulation.
- Based in the San Francisco Bay Area.
