The HR Compliance team within Employee Relations is responsible for ensuring compliance with applicable employment laws and regulations. The Senior Consultant is responsible for independently leading and supporting HR Compliance programs such as assessment of new employment laws, global background check and personal relationship administration, HR compliance metrics reporting and government agency reporting.

1. Identifies applicable new laws and regulations. Advises business partners, including senior management, on HR Compliance programs and applicable laws, regulations, rules and standards, including keeping them informed of developments or changes that may affect their area.

2. Leads HR Compliance programs, such as background checks and personal relationship disclosures, and acts as a contact point within the Company for HR Compliance inquiries from partners.

3. Establishes written guidance on the appropriate implementation of HR Compliance programs and laws, regulations, rules and standards, through policies and procedures and other documents, such as HR Compliance manuals, internal codes of conduct and practice guidelines.

4. Assists senior management in developing HR Compliance programs and identifying partners who are required to take certain training.

5. Identifies, documents, and measures HR Compliance risk to enhance HR Compliance risk assessments and assess the appropriateness of the company's HR Compliance procedures and guidelines.

6. Identifies situations which may pose significant risk and guides management in developing policies and/or procedures that minimize such risk.

7. Interacts with business partners, regulators, and internal and external auditors on regulatory topics.

8. Operates independently; has in-depth knowledge of HR Compliance risk avoidance.

9. Serves as a subject matter expert or other resource within a group for regulatory HR Compliance matters.

10. Reviews work of others.

11. Project lead. Provide leadership, guidance and project management for HR Compliance programs and initiatives.

12. Performs government agency reporting and HR Compliance analysis and metrics reporting across all of our HR Compliance programs.
 

Knowledge :

  • Knowledge of HR Compliance, risk management and the Company’s strategic goals.
  • In-depth knowledge of employment regulations and local laws acquired through formal education and work experience is required.
  • Communication and analytical skills are necessary to consult with partners/clients, and analyze information and apply regulations.
  • Strong analytical and dashboard reporting skills. Knowledge of MS suite of applications, advanced excel skills and AI for analysis and metrics reporting.

Experience :

  • 10 or more years experience, preferably in HR Compliance or risk management; or equivalent related experience.

Salary Range:

$83,100 - 141,300 USD

Salary range is a good faith estimate of base pay. Northern Trust provides a comprehensive benefits package including retirement benefits (401k and pension), health and welfare benefits (medical, dental, vision, spending accounts and disability), paid time off, parental and caregiver leave, life & accident insurance, and other voluntary and well-being benefits. Northern Trust also provides a discretionary bonus program that may include an equity component.
