Job Description

The Senior Manager, Learning Experience Design is a strategic leader within Visa University’s Learning Experience Design community. This role leads a team of Learning Experience Designers and owns the design, execution, and measurement of Visa’s most complex, high-impact, and global learning initiatives for Client Services. The Senior Manager partners directly with senior leaders and cross-functional teams, drives innovation, and shapes the future of learning experience design at Visa. In addition to leading flagship programs, this role is responsible for developing team capability, fostering a high-performance culture, and advancing the organization’s learning strategy. 

Responsibilities:

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of Learning Experience Designers, fostering a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, and excellence. 
  • Oversee resource allocation, workload balancing, and team operations to deliver on multiple complex and high-impact programs. 
  • Own and lead the end-to-end design, development, deployment, and formal measurement of Visa’s most complex and global learning programs for Client Services, ensuring alignment with business objectives and Visa’s Global Talent vision. 
  • Serve as a thought leader and subject matter expert in learning experience design, providing strategic guidance, research, and benchmarking to inform best-in-class practices and future direction. 
  • Partner directly with senior leaders and SMEs to define learning needs, shape program vision, and ensure executive alignment and sponsorship. 
  • Lead innovation and change initiatives across the broader Talent and Client Services organizations, championing the adoption of new learning technologies and approaches. 
  • Develop and implement comprehensive measurement strategies, reporting program impact and insights to executive and enterprise stakeholders. 
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to other Learning Experience Designers within and beyond the immediate team. 
  • Design and facilitate advanced workshops, including sessions with senior stakeholders, to drive strategic learning outcomes. 
  • Oversee vendor relationships and manage cross-functional project teams as needed for program execution. 
  • Curate and integrate external content and resources as part of blended, scalable global learning solutions. 
  • Stay at the forefront of learning science, adult learning theory, cognitive science, and emerging trends to ensure all programs are grounded in research-based principles. 
  • Represent Learning Experience Design in executive-level and cross-functional forums, advocating for the function’s value and priorities. 

This is a hybrid position. Expectation of days in the office will be confirmed by your Hiring Manager. 

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • 8 or more years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor Degree or at least 5 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 2 years of work experience with a PhD

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 9 or more years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor Degree or 7 or more relevant years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 3 or more years of experience with a PhD
  • Master’s degree in Learning & Development, Instructional Design, Education, Organizational Psychology, or related field. 
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in learning experience design, including significant experience with complex, global, or enterprise-level learning programs. 
  • 3+ years of people leadership experience, including managing, developing, and inspiring high-performing teams. 
  • Demonstrated expertise in adult learning theory, learning science, and instructional design best practices, with the ability to translate research into practical, innovative learning solutions. 
  • Advanced expertise in new and emerging learning technologies, including AI, adaptive learning, and analytics platforms. 
  • Proven ability to lead innovation and change initiatives within large, matrixed organizations. 
  • Significant experience collaborating with and influencing senior leaders and executive stakeholders. 
  • Strong track record in designing, implementing, and reporting on comprehensive measurement strategies for learning impact. 
  • Mastery of human-centered design and instructional design methodologies (e.g., ADDIE, Agile, Design Thinking). 
  • Experience designing and facilitating workshops for diverse and senior-level audiences. 
  • Experience managing vendors and leading cross-functional teams. 
  • Deep proficiency with Learning Management Systems (LMS) and related learning technologies.
  • Demonstrated ability to curate content and integrate external resources into global learning programs. 
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and consultative skills. 
  • Industry certifications (e.g., CPTD, PMP, ATD, etc.).
  • Familiarity with enterprise-level project management and collaboration tools (e.g., Asana, Jira).
  • Experience working in the payments or financial services industry. 
  • Recognition or awards in the learning and development field. 

Additional Information

Work Hours: Varies upon the needs of the department.

Travel Requirements: This position requires travel 5-10% of the time.

Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting.  The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary range for this position is 134,800.00 to 216,100.00 USD per year, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity. Visa has a comprehensive benefits package for which this position may be eligible that includes Medical, Dental, Vision, 401 (k), FSA/HSA, Life Insurance, Paid Time Off, and Wellness Program.
