The Role

Tala is a global technology company building the world’s most accessible financial services. As we undergo rapid growth—expanding across customers, markets, and products—we are seeking a strategic leader to ensure our plans are robust and our execution is disciplined. The Senior Manager, Strategy will play a pivotal role in shaping Tala's future direction. You will co-lead our strategic planning processes alongside Finance, ensuring multi-year strategies and annual plans translate effectively into clear, actionable goals. You'll build critical frameworks to enhance decision-making, drive improvements in our operating cadence, provide essential market intelligence, and foster cross-functional alignment—ultimately bridging the gap between strategy and execution and accelerating Tala's mission to expand financial access for millions globally.

What You'll Do

  • Co-lead the development of Tala's multi-year strategies and AOP in partnership with Finance and leadership
  • Build, implement, and operationalize robust frameworks to evaluate, size, scope, and prioritize strategic initiatives
  • Manage and refine Tala's core operating cadence (e.g., business reviews) to enhance effectiveness, alignment, and decision-making speed
  • Drive cross-functional alignment and execution discipline against strategic priorities, managing associated process improvements and change
  • Establish processes for collaborating with local market teams to build and maintain a centralized view of competitive and market intelligence, ensuring quality and consistency
  • Provide actionable insights derived from market intelligence to inform strategic planning and key decisions

What You'll Need

  • 5+ years of experience in management consulting, corporate strategy, business operations, investment banking, or a related analytical field, preferably within a high-growth tech or financial services environment
  • Proven track record of significantly contributing to strategic planning processes (e.g., multi-year plans, AOP) and developing/implementing analytical frameworks for business case evaluation, prioritization, and decision-making
  • Strong quantitative, analytical, and financial modeling skills; ability to synthesize complex information, identify key insights, and develop data-driven recommendations
  • Demonstrated ability to lead complex, cross-functional projects and effectively influence and align diverse teams (e.g., Product, Finance, Engineering, Operations, Marketing) without direct authority
  • Exceptional communication (written/verbal) and presentation skills; capable of articulating complex strategies, analyses, and recommendations clearly and concisely to executive leadership and broad stakeholder groups
  • Deep understanding of goal-setting frameworks and the mechanisms required to connect strategic plans to operational execution and performance monitoring
  • Proven ability to manage organizational change effectively, including stakeholder management, communication planning, and driving adoption of new processes or strategies
  • High degree of comfort navigating ambiguity; ability to independently structure complex problems, develop hypotheses, and drive towards actionable solutions
  • Strong business acumen and financial literacy, with experience working closely with Finance teams on planning, budgeting, and business case validation

  • Preferred Skills & Experience:

  • Deep understanding of the fintech landscape, consumer lending, or specific emerging markets where Tala operates
  • Experience working in a global company with distributed teams

Our vision is to build a new financial ecosystem where everyone can participate on equal footing and access the tools they need to be financially healthy. We strongly believe that inclusion fosters innovation and we’re proud to have a diverse global team that represents a multitude of backgrounds, cultures, and experience. We hire talented people regardless of race, religion, color, national origin, gender, gender expression, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, or disability status.
