Apptronik is a human-centered robotics company developing AI-powered robots to support humanity in every facet of life. Our flagship humanoid robot, Apollo, is built to collaborate thoughtfully with people, starting with critical industries such as manufacturing and logistics, with future applications in healthcare, the home, and beyond.
We operate at the cutting edge of Applied AI, applying our expertise across the full robotics stack to solve some of society's most important problems. You will join a team dedicated to bringing Apollo to market at scale, tackling the complex challenges like safety, commercialization, and mass production to change the world for the better.
The Manufacturing Engineer serves as the critical bridge between product design and mass production. You are responsible for the technical development, validation, and launch of robust manufacturing processes for new hardware products. Your mission is to ensure that "what is designed" can be "built at scale" by defining the equipment, tooling, and process parameters required to meet rigorous quality, cost, and throughput targets. You will champion DFx (Design for Excellence) during early-stage development and lead technical root-cause analysis for any assembly-line roadblocks.
Key Accountabilities- Prototype & NPI Support: Partner with Engineering during early builds, providing hands-on assembly and failure-analysis support while translating design intent into scalable manufacturing processes.
- Manufacturing Definition: Develop and maintain MBOMs, Bills of Process, operation sequences, and Work Instructions. Ensure alignment with the EBOM and successful transfer into ERP/MES systems.
- Process, Tooling & Validation: Develop and qualify manufacturing processes, fixtures, jigs, and tooling for precision electromechanical assembly, alignment, routing, preload, calibration, and functional validation.
- DFM/DFA & Production Readiness: Lead manufacturability reviews, PFMEA, and technical readiness activities. Support pilot builds, production ramp, CM transfer, and ECO/MCO implementation.
- Yield & Continuous Improvement: Own manufacturing performance including first-pass yield, defects, and rework. Use production and test data to lead root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Technical: Strong background in complex hardware assembly, manufacturing process development, tooling, and NPI. Proficiency in CAD (NX preferred).
- Analytical: Experience with DFM/DFA, PFMEA, SPC, DOE, and structured root-cause analysis.
- Preferred Experience: Experience manufacturing high degree-of-freedom electromechanical assemblies, robotic systems, precision mechanisms, or actuation systems. Experience with cable/tendon-driven mechanisms, precision assembly, sensor integration, tolerance-sensitive assemblies, or calibration is a strong plus.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline.
- Experience: 5+ years in Manufacturing Engineering, process development, NPI, or complex hardware industrialization.
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times
- Vision to read printed materials and a computer screen
- Hearing and speech to communicate
