Intangible is a spatial intelligence company, designed for creatives in industries where space and movement matter – everything from film & advertising to events and defense/space tech. We aim to move beyond verbal intelligence (prompts) to spatial intelligence (3D) by giving generative AI models a better understanding of exactly what humans imagine. We get there with camera-centric control system as well as technical innovation in 3D design, semantic systems, AI/ML, and knowledge systems designed to live on the open web and deliver professional grade control over generative AI models.
We are an interdisciplinary team of engineers, artists and designers that have built and shipped multiple end-to-end products at companies like Apple, Unity, Pixar, ILM, Google and Electronic Arts. Intangible is venture-funded by a16z Speedrun, Crosslink Capital and prominent angels.
We are looking for like minded creative technologists who love their craft and building groundbreaking products.
About the RoleWe're looking for a Senior Platform Engineer who is AI-fluent to help scale our infrastructure. You'll build and maintain the data and services powering our creative tools, ensuring speed, reliability, and scale. Our ideal candidate has deep expertise in managing content across asynchronous and real-time collaborative environments, including orchestration of agentic APIs and data flows through these environments.
ResponsibilitiesProvide technical leadership and architectural direction for Intangible's platform layer
Design and evolve infrastructure for our AI-assisted, collaborative tools at scale
Develop highly efficient storage and CDN strategies for large binary assets (e.g., 3D scenes, generated media)
Lead the implementation of backend services and APIs with a focus on security, modularity, and performance
Design and maintain robust API contracts for external developers and partners
Define and implement infrastructure-as-code, CI/CD, observability, and system health tooling
Ensure our systems meet high availability targets ("four nines") while remaining flexible for rapid iteration
Integrate 3rd-party services including AI pipelines, payments, analytics, and user auth1
Collaborate across product, design, and ML to translate creative tooling needs into backend capabilities
Focus on cost management and cloud spend optimization, particularly for large-scale AI workloads
Proficiency with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)
Practical expertise with cloud infrastructure and IaC tools
Practical use of AI/ML models in production (e.g., inference pipelines)
Proven experience with asynchronous job queues and task orchestration, especially related to scaling under AI workloads (e.g., for agentic plans).
Deep understanding of distributed systems, WebSockets, WebTransport, and realtime sync
Optimizing schema and large data sets for use by LLMs
Architecting and deploying multi-tenant systems with strong role, permission, and tenant isolation
Managing schema migrations and cross-environment data synchronization safely
Comfort working in a fast-moving, creative environment with a highly interdisciplinary team
Expertise in GCP and/or PostgreSQL
Experience with 3D tools or creative platforms
Experience with media and content management systems
Passion for building creative tools and empowering artists
Experience using AI tools to improve engineering workflows (e.g., code generation, debugging, testing, documentation), or strong openness to adopting them.
