What’s the role?

As a Senior Product Designer, you'll play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our products. You'll be collaborating closely with User Experience Designers, Artists, Writers, Engineers, and Product Owners to create user interfaces that are not only visually impressive but also intuitively navigable. 

Your expertise extends far and wide, encompassing visual design, interface design, and interaction design. But you're not just a designer; you're a bridge builder who enjoys crafting design systems that connect creative work with front-end development. With your keen eye for detail and passion for innovation, you'll transform concepts into helpful, enjoyable, and easy to use experiences. 

What you’ll do to be successful 

1.) Lead the Product Design function of a product delivery team

  • Ideate and iterate on visual design throughout the product development life cycle, from conceptualization to execution, for new products and new features for existing products
  • Implement design solutions that satisfy business, customer, and user needs
  • Own the design of front-end visual features at the top level of quality
  • KPI: Stakeholder, user, and delivery team feedback gathering and implementation

2.) Collaborate with User Experience Designers, Product Managers, and Developers to iterate on product features

  • Work cross-functionally with engineering teams to assure quality of UX and UI throughout planning, execution, QA, and deploys
  • Be the technical subject matter expert for our frontend and production repos to communicate feasibility of solutions to the creative team 
  • Support production and engineering teams in order to ensure quality of creative deliverables
  • Mentor and train Product Designers and Associate Product Designers, as well as Engineers and production associates in our frontend design and styling processes
  • KPIs: Technical feasibility reviews; WCAG AA 2.1 coverage

3.) Own our internal style guide content and evangelize it across products

  • Document the design and implementation of front-end visual features used in our products to maintain our design system
  • Grow the design system as new features and design elements are created
  • Optimize the design process to increase efficiency and decrease production time
  • Provide input as a cross-functional team member to define and evolve the overall iterative design process 
  • KPIs: Design element coverage within internal design system; design system adoption and implementation across product teams; revisions/rework time; process refinement and innovation

Experience & skills you’ll need

  • 5+ years designing and shipping digital products and interfaces for web and mobile with a strong portfolio of examples
  • Expert in visual design, typographic design, and conceptual design thinking
  • Expert knowledge of HTML, CSS (Sass/SCSS/etc), and other frontend technologies, with an expert-level understanding of rendering issues in modern desktop and mobile browsers
  • Expert in current and emerging web and mobile interaction design patterns and trends
  • Humble, curious team player with a strong desire to collaborate cross-functionally
  • Well-versed in web-based information architecture, user-centered design methods, and current web technologies
  • Experience creating wireframes and functional prototypes
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to build trust and generate buy-in on your design choices
  • Ability to manage a dynamic workload and balance priorities to effectively meet project needs
  • Familiarity with React, TypeScript, or other frontend frameworks is a great-to-have
