Senior Product Manager, Device OS – Appliances

About the Role

We're looking for a Senior Product Manager to own the Appliance Platform within Device OS — the foundational platform that powers every Apkudo appliance. You'll own the software, services, and operational capabilities that let appliances be deployed, configured, managed, monitored, and maintained at scale, and you'll define the roadmap for reliable, secure, and resilient operation across our global fleet.

You won't be building customer workflows or warehouse applications. Instead, you'll build the platform that every appliance — and every application running on those appliances — depends on. As the product owner for Appliance Platform, you'll partner closely with engineering, robotics, infrastructure, customer success, and operations to support thousands of intelligent devices across customer environments.

What You Own

We are agile, and so our days and duties can vary. In this role you own and are responsible for delivering to your colleagues:

  • The Appliance Platform product strategy and roadmap — balancing customer needs, operational excellence, and long-term platform investment.

  • The full appliance lifecycle: zero-touch provisioning and enrollment, software and firmware updates, version management, and clean decommissioning.

  • Fleet operations — health, monitoring, uptime and availability, diagnostics, remote management, and alerting across a distributed, field-deployed fleet.

  • Configuration and administration — appliance and network configuration, environment management, security policies, and role-based administration.

  • Platform infrastructure — the Outpost platform and the connectivity, edge services, hardware abstraction, observability, and resilience that keep the fleet reliable.

  • The operator experience — configuration interfaces, fleet dashboards, health and status monitoring, live operational reporting, and diagnostic tools that let customers manage appliances with confidence.

  • Cross-functional execution across engineering, robotics, infrastructure, design, and customer-facing teams, translating feedback into clear requirements and priorities.

  • Platform thinking — ensuring Device OS is a durable foundation that every appliance and future application can depend on.

How Success Is Measured

You'll define the targets with your team, but this role is measured on:

  • Fleet uptime and availability against SLA.

  • Time-to-online for newly provisioned appliances (fast, low-touch onboarding).

  • Update and rollout success rate, and rollback frequency across the fleet.

  • Mean time to detect and resolve fleet issues (MTTD / MTTR).

  • Share of issues resolved remotely, without a site visit or truck roll.

  • Operator satisfaction with, and adoption of, platform tooling.

  • Number of appliances — and applications — reliably supported at scale.

What You Bring

  • 5+ years of product management experience, including technical or platform products.

  • Experience owning infrastructure, enterprise software, IoT, edge computing, cloud platforms, or operating systems.

  • Strong technical aptitude and the ability to work closely with engineering teams and make sound trade-offs.

  • A track record of translating complex technical systems into customer-centric product strategies.

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with robotics, industrial automation, or connected devices.

  • Familiarity with fleet management, edge computing, networking, or distributed systems.

  • Experience building enterprise SaaS products.

  • Knowledge of observability, monitoring, or operational tooling.

In Your First 12 Months

You'll have set a clear long-term vision for the Appliance Platform, measurably improved the reliability and operability of Apkudo's fleet, delivered intuitive operator experiences for configuring and managing appliances, built strong partnerships across engineering, operations, robotics, and customer teams, and created a scalable platform that enables future innovation across the Apkudo ecosystem.
