About the Role

As a Senior Product Manager, you will lead the full product lifecycle for your product or product line, from discovery through delivery, including product strategy, roadmap, metrics, customer experience, and execution. You will help define strategic product plans in collaboration with leadership and the rest of product management, build roadmaps in conjunction with R&D, and support all activities related to the timely execution and delivery of your products. You will drive the plan and design of products and services to ensure they are competitive in the market, play a key role in go-to-market activities, including pricing, and be responsible for successful product performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategy: Understand user needs, requirements, and market dynamics from a wide range of sources (customers, competitors, technology trends, market research and analysis, strategy, and internal and external stakeholders) and formalize business plans for target products. Initiate and drive product strategies in the product area and contribute to the company product portfolio plans.
  • R&D: Collaborate closely with R&D leadership to map user needs to executable product features and releases. As per the applied product development process, create the necessary requirements specifications and/or epics, features, and use cases. Collaborate with R&D on planning releases/trains, as applicable. Steer and monitor R&D execution.
  • Operations: Align product deliverables with Operations and ensure new product introduction is done for Operations, including facilitating the planning of new competencies, process changes, and other activities necessary to ensure successful product delivery.
  • Product marketing: Initiate and drive value and marketing messages and go-to-market plans, in collaboration with Go-to-Market support if available. Work with Marketing to plan and execute marketing activities, e.g., value messages, marketing materials, and webinars.
  • Sales: Operate closely with Sales and Corporate Development to develop pricing and sales positioning. Help position the product to lead accounts. Develop key sales training with Marketing to ensure sales readiness.
  • Commercial success of products: Monitor product profitability and the competitive landscape. Generate product pricing.

Decision Making and Influence

  • Influence on company product strategy, product plan, and roadmap for a given product area
  • Decision making on product positioning and features within agreed budget frames
  • Decision making on product roadmap together with the rest of the product management leadership
  • Decision making on key milestones in the product process (i.e., user experience and/or design of the product, product readiness to begin development, marketing/sales readiness)
  • Leading the pilot or beta period for a product prior to GA (general availability)
  • Influence on lead customer targeting and marketing positioning
  • Influence on commercial success of products, including revenue and profitability
  • Overall decision making and accountability as “a mini CEO for the product”

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ATTRIBUTES

  • Minimum of 8 years’ experience in product management or similar product design
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to summarize and present complex issues to a variety of audiences: technical, non-technical, and business leaders
