About This Opportunity

Join a collaborative and high-performing cognitive neuroscience research team at the Queensland Brain Institute and help create meaningful change through world-leading brain research. This exciting opportunity will see you provide specialist technical research support across the full research lifecycle, contributing to studies that investigate the neural basis of human cognition using behavioural testing, EEG and structural MRI. Working alongside researchers from diverse scientific backgrounds, you will apply your expertise in coding, data analysis and research operations to support innovative and impactful neuroscience discoveries.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Coordinating participant recruitment activities and supporting aspects of study design and implementation.

  • Developing and maintaining research materials, including computerised experimental tasks, analysis pipelines and MATLAB scripts.

  • Conducting and supporting complex behavioural and neuroimaging research activities, including EEG and structural MRI studies.

  • Analysing neuroimaging and behavioural datasets, and contributing to research reports, figures, presentations, ethics applications and funding submissions.

About You

You are a motivated, organised and technically capable research professional who enjoys working both independently and as part of a collaborative research environment. You are excited by the opportunity to contribute to research that advances our understanding of the human brain and cognitive function.

You will bring:

  • Completion of a degree qualification in engineering, data science, neuroscience, psychology or a related discipline; or an equivalent combination of relevant education, training and experience.

  • Demonstrated experience in coding, preferably using MATLAB or Python, including the development of research tasks, scripts or analytical workflows.

  • Experience in neuroimaging data collection and analysis, ideally including EEG and/or structural MRI methodologies.

  • Strong practical research skills and experience applying quantitative research methods and analytical techniques.

  • Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently on routine research procedures.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to work effectively with researchers, participants and stakeholders.

  • Experience supporting research administration, ethics applications, reporting or grant-related activities.

  • Previous experience in a cognitive neuroscience, neuropsychology, engineering or data science research environment would be highly regarded.
