Job Summary:
The Senior Revenue Accountant plays a critical role in ensuring accurate and compliant revenue recognition for a fast-paced growing SaaS organization. This position is responsible for interpreting complex customer contracts, applying ASC 606 standards, supporting financial reporting, and collaborating cross-functionally to improve operational efficiency and to provide data-driven insights on strategic projects. The ideal candidate brings a strong foundation in accounting, a strategic growth-mindset, and a proactive approach to process improvement and compliance. This role requires a detail-oriented professional who thrives in a dynamic environment, can manage multiple priorities, and communicates effectively across departments. The Senior Revenue Accountant will contribute to the integrity of financial statements, support audits, and help scale revenue operations as the organization grows.
Rotational Program:
This role will participate in a rotational program consisting of two 12–18-month rotations across Corporate Accounting and Revenue Accounting. Through this program participants will gain broad, end-to-end accounting exposure, dedicated mentorship and training, and increased visibility to leadership and cross-functional partners to support ongoing professional development.
Key Responsibilities:
- General Ledger & Revenue Recognition Leadership
- Perform key role in month end closing process, including preparing journal entries, reconciliations, posting and reviewing revenue transactions, and preparing financial revenue reporting.
- Interpret multiple-element customer contracts and apply appropriate revenue recognition methods. Provide cross-functional guidance and strategic insight into revenue treatment and considerations.
- Responsible for the review and approval of revenue arrangements within NetSuite, ensuring all revenue recognition policies are being adhered to.
- Prepare and maintain revenue recognition memos, contract write-ups, and management assessments (e.g. stand-alone selling price) under ASC 606.
- Integral part of quote to cash process, including providing guidance to order entry and invoicing team to ensure customer contracts are processed and recorded in revenue accurately.
- Manage all open revenue risks and opportunities; partner with Finance and business leadership to identify, quantify, and communicate risks, ensuring they are reflected in monthly forecasts.
- Compliance & Internal Controls
- Maintain compliance with accounting policies, procedures, and regulatory standards, including SOX requirements.
- Prepare and execute internal control testing procedures; identify control gaps and propose improvements.
- Act as a resource and coordinator for our external and internal auditors.
- Financial Systems & Data Expertise
- Drive enhancements and automation opportunities within current process workflows and systems (e.g. NetSuite, Salesforce).
- Champion the thoughtful adoption of AI and automation within accounting workflows, helping scale processes, improve efficiency, and enhance data quality and insights.
- Utilize advanced Excel skills and reporting tools to analyze large datasets and support data driven recommendations.
- Cross-functional Influence & Process Improvement
- Lead cross-functional accounting initiatives and collaborate on process optimization projects.
- Develop and enhance standard work, accounting procedures, and internal documentation.
- Identify opportunities to improve current accounting processes, streamline workflows, automate recurring tasks, and improve internal controls.
- Serve as a trusted advisor by providing clear and accurate financial guidance.
Required Qualifications:
Education & Experience Guidelines
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant accounting experience.
- Strong experience with US GAAP, SOX, and public company reporting.
- Demonstrated ability to independently lead complex accounting workstreams.
- Prior experience in:
- A public company environment.
- Healthcare or SaaS industry (preferred).
- Managing technical accounting issues and supporting audit engagements.
- Occasional travel may be required.
Other Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities or Certifications:
- CPA certification or progress toward CPA strongly preferred.
- Advanced analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to operate effectively in a dynamic, evolving environment.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate and influence cross-functionally.
- Proactive with strong initiative and ownership mindset.
- Experience with NetSuite, Salesforce, Avalara, OneStream, Tipalti, and Concur is a plus.
- High proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Office Suite.
