Who we are:
At Wagepoint, we're good people. It's easy to feel that way when you're surrounded by folks doing the best work of their careers, building great payroll software for small businesses across Canada.
Our team brings together diverse backgrounds, perspectives, experiences, and ideas to make payroll the easiest part of running a business.
We're remote-first, growing, and looking for passionate people who don't settle for the first solution or the way it's been done before. We care deeply about our customers and each other, and understand that when it comes to payroll, getting it right matters.
Our values guide how we work and what we expect from one another:
Cultivate Impact by focusing on what matters most and delivering meaningful outcomes for our customers.
Unify as One Team by collaborating openly, communicating clearly, and rallying around shared goals.
Stay Curious and Kind by challenging assumptions, learning quickly, and leading with empathy.
If you want to build the future of payroll in a place where your ideas are welcomed and your contributions matter, look no further!
The role at high level:
We're looking for a talented Senior Software Development Engineer - Mobile who enjoys tackling hard problems and wants to create meaningful impact for small businesses across Canada. As a Senior Mobile Developer (React), you'll lead the design, development, and optimization of mobile applications using React Native and related technologies, owning the end-to-end mobile feature development lifecycle — from architecture and performance tuning to deployment — while mentoring team members and influencing mobile architecture decisions. You will report directly to our Engineering Manager.
What you'll be expected to own:
Own the complete mobile development lifecycle for new features, from design to deployment across iOS and Android, ensuring code quality, maintainability, performance, and comprehensive test coverage.
Set up, manage, and optimize mobile CI/CD pipelines, and ensure smooth app submissions to the iOS App Store and Google Play, including automated build/release pipelines and OTA update configuration.
Implement proactive monitoring, crash analytics, and performance tuning, and respond rapidly to incidents to maintain app reliability.
Work closely with Product, Design, and Backend teams to align mobile development with business goals and technical feasibility.
Mentor mid-level and junior developers in React Native best practices, performance optimization, deployment workflows, and AI-assisted development.
Provide input on mobile architecture decisions, including state management, navigation strategy, and performance patterns, to ensure scalability and maintainability.
Recommend and evaluate new mobile libraries, AI-driven tools, and techniques to improve developer productivity and app performance.
Drive improvements in CI/CD, automated testing, and AI-assisted code generation for mobile development workflows.
What you bring to the table:
5+ years of professional experience in mobile development, with a strong track record of delivering production-grade mobile apps.
Skilled in React Native with advanced JavaScript/TypeScript, building performant, cross-platform apps for iOS and Android.
Experience integrating mobile apps with RESTful and GraphQL APIs.
Strong understanding of app store deployment processes for iOS and Android.
Bonus points if:
Experience with AI tools and productivity optimization.
Familiarity with AI-driven development tools for mobile productivity, such as AI-assisted code generation or automated UI testing.
Experience mentoring or coaching other developers, and translating technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders.
What we bring to the table:
Impact: Dig in and directly contribute to Wagepoint’s growth and success.
Culture: Work alongside a team that genuinely enjoys solving problems together, celebrates wins, supports one another through challenges, and still finds time for the occasional terrible joke.
Growth: We believe learning is part of the job. We’re committed to helping you Get Better Every Day (a representation of our Stay Curious and Kind value!) by offering professional development, new experiences, and career growth as we continue to evolve.
Innovation: Curiosity and experimentation encouraged! Bring ideas, challenge assumptions, responsibly utilize AI, and help shape better ways of working.
Remote: Work from wherever you do your best work. Wagepoint has always been remote-first, giving you flexibility, autonomy, and hopefully a little extra time with the people (and pets) you love.
Ready to join the team? Apply now and help us continue making payroll the easiest part of running a business.
