US Bank Accounts Team

We’re looking for a Senior Software Engineer to help build the foundation of our US Banking Product, directly engineering the systems that allow businesses to open, manage, and move money within our ecosystem.
This is a new and rapidly evolving offering. As an early member of the team, you won’t just be executing tickets, you’ll be a key contributor to the technical design and architecture, owning features from initial commit to scaled production. You’ll have the unique opportunity to help shape the technical roadmap of a product in its "build-to-scale" phase. 

What you’ll do:

• You will bring a new perspective on best engineering practices, improvements, and opportunities
• You will lead complex technical projects from requirements analysis through architectural design, implementation, testing, and launch into production
• You will also work closely with the product team to understand the scope of changes for our customers
• Championing security, compliance and reliability challenges
• You will mentor and guide other engineers to improve their technical skills and make informed decisions
• We launch fast and iterate often. Concretely, this means that within your first few weeks, you will bring live functionalities that impact many merchants and shoppers
• Collaborate across teams and time zones to get projects over the finish line

Who you are:

• Currently working as a Senior Software Engineer or at a similar level, with demonstrated knowledge of building Java web services and designing performant relational database models (preferably PostgreSQL)
• You have strong problem-solving skills, are comfortable navigating evolving priorities, and adapting quickly to unforeseen challenges
• You enjoy elevating the software creation process, system design, reliability, testing, and general problem-solving of the team and broader organization
• You have great communication skills and can articulate complex technical vision and strategy to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• You are skilled at collaborating with various people, including senior leaders, Product Managers, and other Software Engineers
• You are experienced in leading technical projects in a fast-paced environment
• You are a flexible team player with an eye for detail
• You proactively share what you learn with the larger engineering community
• Open to some domestic and international travel

Minimum qualifications:

• 8+ years of experience in the software development industry 
• Full professional proficiency in English
• This role is based out of our Chicago office. We are an office-first company and value in-person collaboration; we do not offer remote-only roles
