About the team:
You’ll be working on the Web Platform team that is responsible for the content management architecture at SmartAsset. This team is building the future content management systems to create, serve, and innovate on the financial information that attracts our users and has built our brand. Your role on this team will involve working on both front and backend services as we build and migrate our new content management system while working closely with senior engineers and architects to design the future of how we serve content.
About the Job:Responsibilities:
- This position presents a high-growth opportunity to be part of a dynamic engineering team that owns the technical and architectural domains of our web platform domain.
- You will be part of an AGILE SCRUM team, responsible for running and scaling our web site and other web products.
- You will be collaborating closely with everyone around you including our product team and other stakeholders to complete sprint and triage commitments.
- You will actively participate and support making key technical decisions, documenting technical and improving processes as we revamp and reshape the services we provide.
- Your role will be pivotal in guiding technical designs and ensuring the successful implementation of your team’s roadmap.
- Your relentless drive to learn, coupled with a "no challenge is too big" approach, will shape your team's decisions around technology, tooling, and processes.
- You present excellent communication skills that enhance collaboration in an asynchronous and fully remote environment
Skills/Experience you have:
- Engineering Expertise: 3+ years of experience building, maintaining, and scaling highly available, performant web platforms with Java (or similar) and deep expertise in ReactJS and NodeJS for modular, modern web applications.
- Technical Proficiency: Strong knowledge of relational databases and SQL, version control with Git, and designing and implementing complex cloud solutions (preferably AWS).
- Leadership & Strategy: Proven ability to drive project and product success in Agile environments through strategic thinking, clear communication, and decisive action.
- Team Development: Passionate about coaching and mentoring others while continuously improving yourself, fostering a culture of growth and collaboration.
- Execution & Adaptability: Adept at identifying risks, creating effective mitigations, and thriving in fast-paced, cross-functional teams with a startup mindset and a relentless drive for improvement.
Skills/Experience preferred:
- Knowledge of least privilege principle, application structure and OOP patterns.
- Experience working in or developing in a CI/CD environment
- Familiarity using IAC tools (ex. Terraform, Cloudformation)
- Knowledge operating incidents, releases, problem, and change management processes
- Experience using or integrating headless WordPress or other Content Management tools.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Must be able to communicate via phone calls and/or video conferences
- All roles at SmartAsset are currently and will remain remote - flexibility to work from anywhere in the Contiguous US.
