NextGen Federal Systems, LLC (NextGen) is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to participate in the full Software Development Life Cycle for the development of innovative software systems for use by our Department of War (DoW) customers.

Selected candidates will be part of a distributed development team operating in a dynamic, agile, fast-paced environment, and will participate in all phases of the software engineering process including research, design, development, integration, deployment and testing.



Qualifications:

    · Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Math, Engineering, or related field

    · 8+ years of formal work-related experience with software engineering

    · Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance

Required Skills and Experience:

    · Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Math, Engineering, or related field

    · 8+ years of formal work-related experience with software engineering

    · Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance

    · Experience with software architecture, design, implementation, testing, and integration

    · Experience with typescript software development

    · Experience with full stack software development

    · Experience with React

    · Experience with writing unit tests and adhering to coding standards

    · Experience with NodeJS and RESTful web services

    · Strong written & verbal communication skills, including technical writing and presentations

    · Able to serve as task lead, scrum master, or mentor

Desired Skills and Experience:

    · Experience operating in a DevSecOps environment with CI/CD pipelines

    · Experience with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)

    · Experience with Relational Database Management Systems (e.g., AWS RDS, Postgres)

    · Experience with Cybersecurity compliance procedures (e.g., SonarQube/PrismaCloud scans, STIG checks, POAM documents)

    · Experience managing and validating software releases

    · Experience with performance testing, scalability mechanisms, and system tuning

    · Experience with geospatial data formats (raster, vector) and tools (e.g., QGIS)

    · Experience with geospatial libraries (Leaflet.js)

    · Experience with OGC standards (WMS, WCS, EDR)

    · Experience working with Air Force Weather systems
