C.H. Robinson seeking a Senior Solution Architect (Capacity) to join our Drop Trailer team. In this role you will lead the design, validation, and optimization of complex drop trailer programs across a diverse customer base. You are accountable for developing scalable solutions that balance operational efficiency, carrier engagement, and cost‑to‑serve economics. You will partner closely with Pricing, Procurement, Operations, and Commercial to model costs, define risk exposures, and align solutions to program requirements. In this role you provide subject‑matter expertise on solution requirements, cycle performance, and operational readiness, ensuring solutions are both implementable and value‑accretive. The role plays a critical part in optimizing real‑world performance through continuous cycle monitoring, data‑driven adjustments, and recommending corrective actions to protect service, cost, and trailer turn expectations.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The duties and responsibilities of this position consist of, but are not limited to, the following:

Strategy & Growth:

  • Leads complex DT discovery, feasibility, and solution design efforts
  • Builds advanced trailer‑pool sizing models incorporating variability, surge coverage, and cycle risk
  • Identifies operational constraints and translates them into solution requirements

Pricing Alignment and Financial Modeling:

  • Models DT economics including trailer allocation, maintenance, dwell exposure, and under‑turn risk
  • Builds sensitivity scenarios (high dwell, cycle distortion, volume volatility)
  • Partners with Pricing SMEs to ensure rate structures accurately reflect DT cost drivers
  • Supports commercial teams in articulating financial logic and program value

Procurement & Program Strategy:

  • Validates carrier capability and willingness to operate DT programs
  • Aligns with Procurement on lane‑carrier assignment, surge capacity, and program durability
  • Defines service expectations, communication paths, and exception protocols
  • Advises on ideal carrier drop or Power+ or other single SCAC solutions

Governance, Vetting & Stakeholder Alignment

  • Leads cross‑functional collaboration with Pricing, Procurement, Sales, and Operations
  • Documents risk exposures and influences go/no‑go recommendations
  • Ensures solution quality and alignment with enterprise DT standards
  • Provides structured feedback to product and service-line leadership to improve DT solution standards, modeling frameworks, and enablement materials.

Internal/Commercial Enablement

  • Serves as a technical SME to commercial, pricing, and capacity teams by explaining solution logic, feasibility criteria, and DT modeling assumptions to support informed decision making across the deal cycle.
  • Monitors market and operational trends to ensure solution designs reflect current cost drivers, carrier behaviors, and cycle-performance realities.
  • Participate in targeted customer discussions to explain technical solution design, feasibility rationale, and operational requirements when deeper expertise is needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of experience in supply chain, operations, network design, or transportation solutions
  • Advanced analytical skills with ability to model dynamic solutions
  • Strong cross‑functional collaboration across Pricing, Procurement, Commercial, and Operations
  • Exceptional communication skills with ability to translate technical aspects into business insights

Preferred:

  • Demonstrated experience in drop trailer and/or complex capacity solutions
  • Experience with trailer‑pool optimization or network simulation tools
  • Knowledge of carrier operations and asset‑based transportation dynamics
  • Experience supporting large‑scale customer implementations
  • Proficiency with Excel, Power BI, Tableau, or modeling tools
