We currently have a career opportunity for an Enterprise Architect to join our team. This is a remote position, must live in the United States.
Job Overview:
An Enterprise Architect is a senior, client‑facing leader responsible for defining, governing, and evolving the end‑to‑end technology architecture for large‑scale healthcare payer organizations. This role blends deep healthcare domain expertise with broad technical leadership, guiding clients through modernization, cloud adoption, AI enablement, and enterprise transformation.
You will provide best-fit architectural solutions for one or more projects; you will assist in defining scope and sizing of work; and anchor Proof of Concept developments. You will provide solution architecture for the business problem, platform integration with third party services, designing and developing complex features for clients' business needs. You will collaborate with some of the best talent in the industry to create and implement innovative high quality solutions, participate in Sales and various pursuits focused on our clients' business needs.
You will also contribute in a variety of roles in thought leadership, mentorship, systems analysis, architecture, design, configuration, testing, debugging, and documentation. You will challenge your leading edge solutions, consultative and business skills through the diversity of work in multiple industry domains. This role is considered part of the Business Unit Senior Leadership team and may mentor junior architects and other delivery team members.

Responsibilities
- Own and drive key areas of enterprise technology architecture, delivering end‑to‑end architectural direction for major initiatives.
- Develop and govern the enterprise‑wide technology blueprint for healthcare payer organizations, ensuring alignment across clinical, operational, administrative, and data domains.
- Define and maintain architecture standards, reference models, guardrails, and best practices to guide transformation, modernization, and cloud adoption programs.
- Provide authoritative guidance on critical architectural decisions, trade‑offs, patterns, and solution designs across multi‑year programs.
- Ensure all solutions comply with healthcare regulatory frameworks (HIPAA, CMS, NCQA, state mandates) and align with industry trends such as interoperability, FHIR, value‑based care, and AI‑enabled workflows.
- Lead modernization of legacy core systems using cloud‑native, API‑driven, microservices‑based, and AI‑assisted architectures.
- Architect integration strategies for heterogeneous systems using event‑driven patterns, microservices, APIs, and modern cloud‑based services.
- Ensure architectures deliver scalability, resiliency, security, interoperability, cost optimization, and high performance across the enterprise.
- Partner with business and IT executives, engineering teams, and PMOs to align technology decisions with strategic direction.
- Lead and facilitate architecture reviews, working sessions, roadmap planning, and technical decision forums for both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
- Provide continuous architectural oversight for large transformation programs, ensuring solution designs align with enterprise standards and long‑term strategy.
- Review and approve solution architectures, data flows, integration patterns, cloud deployments, and platform modernization designs.
- Identify architectural risks, gaps, and dependencies; recommend mitigation strategies and drive resolution.
- Lead project and solution estimation efforts and define optimal team structures for delivery.
- Demonstrate broad technical leadership, influencing architecture direction beyond individual projects and driving strategic change across the enterprise.
- 15+ years of experience in enterprise architecture, solution architecture, or senior technical leadership roles.
- Deep experience across key payer functions including claims processing, eligibility/enrollment, benefits administration, provider systems, care management, and utilization management.
- Strong understanding of healthcare regulatory requirements, including HIPAA, SOC2, HITRUST, CMS, NCQA, and state‑level mandates.
- Broad technical foundation across cloud, applications, data, and integration technologies.
- Proficient in leveraging AI technologies to drive innovation, support strategic initiatives, and enable data-driven decision-making.
- Possesses a strong understanding of AI capabilities, limitations, and ethical considerations.
- Deep experience with AWS and GCP; familiarity with AI/ML services, pipelines, and analytics stacks.
- Hands‑on knowledge of Java, Spring Boot, Angular, and modern mobile frameworks.
- Expertise with APIs, microservices, event‑driven architectures, and cloud‑native design patterns.
- Experience with enterprise data platforms, data modeling, and healthcare interoperability standards.
- Hands‑on knowledge of AI/ML, automation platforms, and cloud‑native architectures.
- At least 5 years in a professional services, consulting, or global delivery organization with demonstrated success managing complex, enterprise engagements.
- Proven track record leading multi‑year, large‑scale transformation programs.
- Experience leading internal initiatives and working with globally distributed, offshore/onshore teams.
- Exceptional executive communication skills; able to influence C‑suite leaders and drive strategic decision‑making.
- Strong leadership presence with the ability to drive consensus across diverse stakeholder groups.
- Skilled at simplifying complex technical concepts into actionable direction.
- Ability to balance strategic architectural vision with hands‑on technical depth when required.
- Experienced in leading customer workshops, educating stakeholders, and presenting technology trends and best practices.
- Independent, self‑driven, and comfortable owning architectural decisions and outcomes.
Must be open to travel as needed.
Preferred Skills and Education:
- Master’s degree in Computer Science or related field
The salary range for this position takes into consideration a variety of factors, including but not limited to skill sets, level of experience, applicable office location, training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The new hire salary range displays the minimum and maximum salary targets for this position across all US locations, and the range has not been adjusted for any specific state differentials. It is not typical for a candidate to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role, and compensation decisions are dependent on the unique facts and circumstances regarding each candidate. A reasonable estimate of the current salary range for this position is $105,100.00 to $202,730.00.
