Job Profile Summary:

Responsible for driving revenue by selling and retaining investment products and services with a focus on ETF, Mutual Fund, Separately Managed Accounts, Alternative Investments and Multi Asset Class products and services to prospective clients generating revenue for the bank.
Acts as the technical expert and lead on major national accounts regarding the bank's products and services and the outside marketplace. Identifies prospects by various research and analyzes client's needs to recommend new services or products.

Responsibilities:

1. Sells ETF, Mutual Fund and Multi Asset Class products and services to suitable prospects producing fee revenue for the bank.
2. Identifies new prospects by researching potential needs and prioritizing and producing a business plan.
3. Acts as the technical expert and lead on major national accounts regarding the bank's products and services and the outside marketplace including competitors.
4. Makes customized sales presentations to large and complex clients utilizing knowledge of our products and services.
5. Utilizes knowledge of bank's investment, trust, custody and securities products and services to work with other internal partners and recommend new services or products to clients where possible.
6. Maintains on-going relationships with advisors, home office personnel, and other centers of influence making them aware of the bank's products and services. Responsible for optimizing revenue and profitability of key strategic relationships.
7. Maintains knowledge of our products and services by initiating frequent contact with other financial institutions, partners and keeping abreast of laws and regulations affecting the industry.
8. Maintains knowledge of competitors and their products and services.
9. Seasoned multi-disciplinary expert with extensive technical and / or business knowledge and functional expertise.
10. Focus of role is on execution of strategic direction of business function activities.
11. Carries out complex initiatives involving multiple disciplines and/or ambiguous issues.
12. Displays a balanced, cross-functional perspective, liaising with the business to improve efficiency, effectiveness and productivity.
13. Work cross-functionally with sales, product, investment, custody where appropriate, and operations teams to deliver a One Northern experience to strategic clients.

Requirements: 

•     10+ years of investment sales experience to include extensive network of RIA contacts.
•      Bachelor’s degree and/or relevant proven work experience is required

•      NASD Series 7 and 66 (or 63 & 65) are required.

•      CFA is strongly preferred

Competencies and Skills:

• Knowledge of investment management areas across all products and segments such as fixed income, active and passive equities, cash, alternative investments, securities and international together with other Northern products and services, usually acquired through related work experience, is required to respond to client's needs

• Knowledge of national footprint across all channels including, but not limited to: Custodians, wirehouses, independent broker/dealers, regional broker/dealers, registered investment advisors, etc.

• Ability to communicate and sell Northern products and services to generate revenue for the bank.

• Knowledge of securities and pension industry products and services to compete with other financial institutions.

• Negotiation skills are necessary to respond to fee proposals.

• Leadership and organizational skills

Salary Range:

$158,010 - 268,640 USD

Salary range is a good faith estimate of base pay. Northern Trust provides a comprehensive benefits package including retirement benefits (401k and pension), health and welfare benefits (medical, dental, vision, spending accounts and disability), paid time off, parental and caregiver leave, life & accident insurance, and other voluntary and well-being benefits. Northern Trust also provides a discretionary bonus program that may include an equity component.
