JOB SUMMARY:

The Senior Systems Engineer is responsible for the overall design, implementation, operation, and support of Anderson Healthcare’s enterprise-wide server, storage, and backup infrastructure across all locations. This role works collaboratively within a technology team to monitor and optimize systems so that configurations, performance, capacity, and security meet organizational and end-user needs.


The Senior Systems Engineer maintains and supports computer hardware and software, diagnoses and resolves complex technical issues, and serves as an escalation point for Helpdesk staff when end user incidents indicate broader systemic problems. This position collaborates closely with the Cyber Security Administrator to ensure that appropriate security controls are in place and effective. This position participates in an on-call rotation, including weekend and after-hours coverage as assigned.

Qualifications

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Develops and maintains a strong understanding of the organization, users, and clinical/operational workflows across the hospital and affiliated locations.
  2. Leads and facilitates meetings, sets priorities, resolves conflicts, manages issues, and oversees the implementation of project plans.
  3. Collaborates with vendors, application analysts, customer service personnel, and end users to achieve desired organizational outcomes.
  4. Probes for and clarifies underlying business and clinical needs to ensure that technology solutions support usability, efficiency, and high-quality patient care.
  5. Thoroughly reviews, analyzes, and tests all system changes, adhering to established change control processes.
  6. Assists application and systems analysts in the development, implementation, education, evaluation, maintenance, and coordination of applications as necessary.
  7. Develops or assists with tip sheets, training documentation, and communications for new or modified workflows and systems.
  8. Provides support and education to Helpdesk support personnel to ensure effective incident resolution and knowledge transfer.
  9. Coordinates and manages assigned projects, including project definition, task assignment, scheduling, follow-up, and communication.
  10. Assists in the development and management of hardware and software budgets within assigned areas.
  11. Trains and mentors team members to build skills, share knowledge, and foster professional growth.
  12. Performs other related duties as assigned.

EDUCATION REQUIRMENTS AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:


Education Level:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field; OR

A minimum of 4 years of experience in a related technical role combined with equivalent industry certifications in lieu of a degree.

 

Experience Requirement:

Minimum of 4 years of experience supporting Windows server/systems infrastructure, preferably in a healthcare environment.

 

Experience with multiple technologies from the following list is strongly preferred:

  • Windows Server
  • Microsoft Active Directory
  • VMware vCenter Server
  • VMware Horizon VDI
  • Dell or similar enterprise storage solutions
  • Microsoft SQL Server / MySQL or similar database platforms
  • Linux Server (any commercial distribution)
  • Dell Data Domain backup with PowerProtect Data Manager or similar backup solutions
  • Dell PowerStore
  • F5 load balancers
  • SolarWinds or similar infrastructure monitoring tools
  • Imprivata or similar SSO solutions
  • Enterprise print management solutions
  • Microsoft Azure AD
  • Azure, AWS, or hybrid cloud environments
