The Senior Systems Engineer designs, implements, and manages cloud architectures and software services in an Agile environment for airspace operations.
Job Description
BAE Systems is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to support a multi-disciplinary team in an Agile, fast-paced development environment to support the Mobility Air Forces Automated Flight Planning Services (MAFPS) program. The qualified candidate will support the development and implementation of complex software services that incorporate mission, platform, navigation, airspace, weather and other aeronautical data from authoritative sources to generate and visualize 4-D optimized flight plans that adhere to complex global airspace business rules to support the USAF's Air Mobility Command's (AMC) 618th Air Operations Center (AOC) daily worldwide airspace operations. MAFPS is integrated with the US Air Force network and operates 24/7/365. This position will be hybrid, located in Fairview Heights, IL.
The qualified candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing cloud architectures, operations, and application deployments. This role requires hands-on experience with Java, Web Services, and Linux operating systems, preferably Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL). The ideal candidate will support infrastructure deployments across multiple environments to ensure system status remains operational, manage and maintain automated software installs, and perform program-specific security technical implementation guide (STIG) maintenance and resolution. Additionally, the Systems Engineer will collaborate with teams to ensure compliance with security requirements, respond to outages, prioritize security findings, and ensure effective documentation and communication. Experience working with Department of Defense (DoD) applications, including system operations and administration, is essential, as is familiarity with either AWS VPC and TGW services or network administration. While shift work is not required for this position, on-call support may be required due to the 24/7/365 nature of customer operations.
