Rohlik Group is building the future of online grocery — delivering 25,000 SKUs in under three hours across multiple European markets. But this isn't just a logistics problem. We're engineering the shift to agentic-first development, rethinking how software gets built so we can ship faster without compromising the quality our customers expect.
Our engineers work on problems that sit at the intersection of AI, real-time operations, and consumer experience. Whether it's driving our warehouses toward lights-out operations, bringing agentic shopping to our web and app products, or building the internal systems that power one of Europe's fastest-growing grocery platforms — the technical challenges here are real and unsolved.
Department Overview100+ engineers across Product Engineering, Platform & SRE, Machine Learning, AI, and Data. We work in compact cells of 3-8 people, each owning a specific problem with clear KPIs. We're AI-native — Claude Code and Devin are part of our daily workflow, not a pilot. We ship fast, we build with the best tools available, and we don't hide behind process when we could be shipping.
Role OverviewYou'll own the technical direction for one of Rohlik's core domains — from architecture to delivery. This is a staff-plus individual contributor role: no direct reports, but far-reaching influence across multiple teams and functions.
You'll be the person teams turn to when they're stuck on the hardest problems. You'll shape how systems are designed, how trade-offs are evaluated, and how we evolve our platform as we scale across markets. You're accountable for ensuring your domain's systems are architecturally sound, scalable, secure, and aligned with where the company is heading.
You'll also play a key role in embedding AI and agentic practices into the stack and developer workflows — helping us move faster while keeping quality high. This means driving the adoption of agentic development, championing automation, and ensuring Rohlik stays on the cutting edge of how modern engineering teams work.
What we expect from you / the position to performOwn the long-term technical vision, architecture, and strategic direction of your domain.
Lead cross-team design discussions, architectural reviews, and delivery of major technical initiatives.
Partner with Engineering Managers, Product Engineers, and Product Owners to turn business goals into sound technical strategy.
Drive high standards for security, scalability, and performance — and make them stick.
Champion agentic-first development practices to help engineers ship faster.
Make the engineers around you better — through pairing, design reviews, and raising the bar on what "good" looks like.
Support multiple engineering teams by unblocking complex issues and setting clear technical standards.
Provide input into group-wide engineering strategy, technology selection, and platform direction.
Act as the point of escalation for the most complex technical decisions in your domain.
You've designed and scaled large, mission-critical systems that serve real users at scale.
You've made architectural decisions that teams are still benefiting from years later — and you can articulate the trade-offs you considered.
You can walk into a room of senior engineers, explain a complex trade-off, and leave with alignment — even without formal authority.
You have deep expertise in a specific technical domain (e.g., payments, logistics, customer experience, AI/ML) and a track record of shaping its direction.
You've mentored senior engineers and helped them grow — not just reviewed their code, but changed how they think about problems.
You're excited about using AI to fundamentally change how engineering teams work — not as a buzzword, but as a real multiplier.

Experience contributing to open-source projects or presenting at technical conferences.
Familiarity with multiple programming paradigms and technology stacks.
Exposure to cross-regional or multi-country technology operations.
