Role Overview

The Technical Product Manager (TPM) – AI is responsible for guiding the development and optimization of AI-powered products from concept to release. This role requires a strong technical foundation, a deep understanding of artificial intelligence and machine learning, and the ability to align product initiatives with both user needs and overarching business objectives.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Product Strategy & Roadmapping

    • Define and maintain product vision, strategy, and roadmap for AI-driven solutions.

    • Collaborate with stakeholders (e.g., engineering, data science, business leads) to set clear, measurable goals.

  2. Cross-Functional Collaboration

    • Work closely with engineering teams, data scientists, and research teams to define technical requirements.

    • Align technical capabilities with business objectives and user needs.

    • Liaise with marketing, sales, and support teams to ensure product readiness and effective go-to-market strategies.

  3. Technical Leadership

    • Provide clear guidance on AI/ML architectures, frameworks, and best practices.

    • Balance technical feasibility with user-centric requirements to deliver innovative features.

    • Evaluate and select tools, platforms, or libraries that best support AI initiatives.

  4. Requirement Gathering & Prioritization

    • Conduct market research and analyze user feedback to identify pain points and opportunities for AI solutions.

    • Prioritize product features and enhancements using data-driven insights (e.g., user feedback, A/B testing, usage analytics).

  5. Project Management & Execution

    • Coordinate end-to-end product development cycles, from discovery and proof of concept to deployment and monitoring.

    • Manage timelines, sprints, and resources, ensuring products are delivered on schedule and within scope.

    • Implement beta tests and pilot programs to validate feature assumptions and performance.

  6. Performance Monitoring & Continuous Improvement

    • Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) for AI models (e.g., accuracy, precision, recall, AUC).

    • Analyze real-world performance data to refine existing models and guide improvements.

    • Drive continuous iteration on AI features to maintain competitive advantages.

  7. Stakeholder Communication

    • Provide regular product updates to leadership, highlighting milestones, risks, and roadblocks.

    • Simplify complex AI/ML concepts for non-technical audiences, ensuring alignment on product vision.

Required Skills & Background
  • Technical Expertise

    • Solid foundation in computer science, data science, software engineering, or related fields.

    • Understanding of AI/ML concepts, algorithms, frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch), and best practices.

  • Product Management Experience

    • Familiarity with the product development lifecycle, including roadmap planning, agile methodologies, and backlog management.

    • Experience working in cross-functional teams and leading collaborative projects.

  • Business Acumen

    • Ability to balance user needs with business objectives, focusing on ROI and strategic impact.

    • Proven track record of using data-driven insights to guide decision-making.

  • Communication & Interpersonal Skills

    • Strong written and verbal communication, adept at translating highly technical information to various audiences.

    • Skillful at managing stakeholder expectations and building rapport across departments.

  • Problem-Solving & Critical Thinking

    • Sharp analytical mindset for diagnosing issues, identifying opportunities, and implementing solutions.

    • Comfortable making well-considered trade-offs in features, scope, and timeline.

  • Flexibility & Adaptability

    • Comfortable pivoting in fast-paced, rapidly evolving environments, especially in AI-related projects.

    • Eager to stay current with new AI technologies and industry trends.

Qualifications
  • 7+ years of experience required

    • preferred 2 years in a senior role; preferred 2 years AI experience

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related technical field.

  • Hands-on experience with ML model development, data pipelines, or AI-based solutions.

  • Familiarity with cloud services (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure) for deploying and scaling AI solutions.
