So, what’s the role?

Kin is taking on the home insurance market with accelerated growth to help customers in climate affected states get quality property insurance. As a direct to consumer business, we are transforming the way homeowners access insurance. We are looking for a Visual Design Lead to join our growing design team and own the visual identity of our brand. You will work across marketing and product teams to ensure a coherent representation of our brand across surfaces while partnering with design system and research teams. In this role, you will be embedded within the marketing org to conceptualize and art direct our visual brand and marketing campaigns.

A day in the life could include: 

  • Drive the direction and development of our visual brand including creative strategy, plans and execution, ultimately building customer loyalty and preference through differentiation
  • Art direct and design conceptual brand expressions across all mediums for campaigns that drive awareness, acquisition, and retention results
  • Communicate complicated topics in clear, concise visuals to a non technical audience
  • Play an active role in communicating strategic decisions around the future direction of our visual brand and how it is represented
  • Create original, breakthrough work
  • Manage design execution with contractors and agencies
  • Lead a partnership with Marketing and Brand directors, designers, researchers and product managers

I’ve got the skills… but do I have the necessary ones?

  • Experience leading, developing, and deploying visual brands that drive differentiation - ultimately building customer loyalty and preference - working closely with marketing, product, design systems and internal brand.
  • Experience art directing, designing and concepting big, conceptual brand expressions across all mediums for campaigns that drive awareness, acquisition, and retention results.
  • Experience creating original breakthrough ideas as well as translating complex strategic approaches into accessible creative concepts that are focused on addressing the brand/ marketing needs of the company.
  • Experience showcasing your end-to-end design process across multiple projects, that include interaction and visual design artifacts, multiple iterations, high-fidelity prototypes, and consideration of the impact and scale of work

Other must haves:

  • Bachelor's degree in design, graphic design, art or equivalent experience
  • 6+ years of experience at agency/ in-house concepting and art directing ideas for brand and product marketing
  • Demonstrated creative excellence with proven global and digital experience
  • Experience working on mobile and digital social campaigns
  • Professional communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, data-driven environment

Located in the historic Merchandise Mart Plaza, Kin's office is located directly off the Brown and Purple line stops, overlooking the Chicago River.
