Leidos is seeking a Smart Grid Application Engineer to operate and manage Smart Grid Advanced Metering Infrastructure applications, interfaces and web portal systems in support of utility industry clients. 

Responsibilities:

  • Duties involve responding to clients promptly and professionally, accurately documenting issues, coordinating vendor activities and following implementation procedures to ensure compliance with specifications.​ This role is responsible for monitoring application and system performance, status reporting and problem escalations. In addition, the engineer will receive and respond to service desk tickets and automated alerts. Experience working in a service desk environment, electric, water or gas utility experience, technical or engineering backgrounds and demonstrable problem solving skills are all viewed favorably. Provide technical and product support to clients as the principal on-site AMI resource.
  • Ability to resolve problems requiring technical knowledge and communicate the solution effectively to peers and management.
  • Self-starter with ability to perform work independently with little or no supervision on projects of moderate complexity.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with business partners and clients on the status of production outages, resolution strategy and root cause information.
  • Responsible for escalating any issues they are unable to resolve onsite to the SGS Support team and keep the appropriate customer team members updated on the status of these issues.
  • Analyze and resolve production system faults.
  • Review, analyze and resolve AMI alerts, events and statuses.
  • Troubleshoot software application issues quickly and effectively.
  • Review, test and manage implementation & integration of AMI device firmware and server software.
  • Manage small projects and assist with project startup activities.
  • Perform new meter installation transaction monitoring.
  • Manage AMI schedule collection for service level agreement compliance.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge base information, application documentation and procedures.
  • Manage file system archiving & retention policies.
  • AMI device asset management (programs, IP configurations, locations, monitoring, warranty tracking, failure modes, etc.).
  • Ensure that work complies with Leidos’ Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), systems development life cycle methodology, policies, standards and procedures.
  • Must be able to multi-task and effectively prioritize within a high volume/​time sensitive environment.
  • Support On-call support on a rotating schedule for a 24/7/365 operation in addition to daily support assignments..

Qualifications:

  • Experience in the Utilities industry, Meter Data Management Systems and AMI systems helpful.
  • Experience with web-services desired.
  • Customer service oriented; must possess attention to detail and a sense of urgency.
  • Solid understanding of IT technology (networking, databases, applications, hardware, etc.).
  • Knowledge of systems methodologies, design, and implementation.
  • Strong analytical skills and problem solving techniques.
  • Working knowledge of ITIL principles and best practices.
  • Work well within a team environment and individually with minimum supervision.
  • Possess excellent written, communication and interpersonal skills.

Experience:

  • 2 to 5+ years of experience working on or with technical teams.
  • 2 to 5+ years of managing small projects.
  • 3+ years of application support experience.

Education:

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent experience required.

Pay Range:Pay Range $65,650.00 - $118,675.00
