Software Development Manager I (Raleigh, NC) Duties: Own the availability and performance of the distributed, multi-service systems deployed in AWS (Java/Spring REST APIs) your team develops and maintains by providing hands-on technical leadership. Provide technical leadership and mentorship to your team members through weekly 1:1s as well as timely, clear, and actionable feedback to help them grow in their technical skills and advance their careers. Design, document, and review new product features and APIs in collaboration with other team members and product owner, and mentor other more junior developers to do the same. Support team in building and deploying high-quality software, focusing on scalability, fault tolerance, and observability, while creating and maintaining efficient CI/CD pipelines. Participate in and mentor team through productive code reviews adhering to team-defined coding standards as you create products. Break down larger product features into manageable stories that can be distributed across multiple developers. Split time between people leadership, technical leadership and non-critical path hands-on code writing. Drive sprint planning and execution in partnership with the development team and product owner, ensuring sprint goals are set according to team capacity and sprint progress is tracked, while proactively identifying challenges, aggressively removing roadblocks and maintaining accountability for delivery. Work with product owner and other stakeholders to prioritize and help refine product features, develop feature sizing to provide roadmap estimates, and provide clear reporting on technical progress.


Required: Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Electronics Engineering or related field plus 7 years of experience in the job offered or related software development position.

 

Must have:

  • 2 years of experience leading a team of developers either as a manager or as a technical lead.
  • Experience with network protocol HTTP.
  • Experience designing and working with distributed systems, specifically debugging issues across related microservices.
  • Experience with AWS development.
  • Experience with SQL and relational database systems (RDS).
  • Experience with IAC tools including Terraform, Cloud Formation, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Experience with SDLC and Agile methodologies.
  • Experience with Enterprise Change and Release Management processes.
